Just listened to a podcast about the British police service planning on using the new facial recognition software called 'Clearview'. This should be a massive wake up call to everyone about privacy and I would urge ye to look into this. This software violates all GDPR laws. So countries in the EU will not allow anyone use it. But Fabs is a UK based company so I would like to know their policies on this and if their current privacy protection features will stop Clearview from analysing all the photos uploaded to Fab. Clearview analyses the photos to find a person and build a profile about that person. This is already taking place on social media sites and public websites. Any company can buy this software. For example a company who wants to gather data on employees or about a person in an interview process......or banks, insurance companies.
What is Fabswingers opinion on this? |

No mention of it being used in the uk as of yet. The us firm behind is being sued in canada though. To be honest is it much worse than google image etc. The technology is there can't see it being stopped forever. |

Big brother is already watching us anyway.
What would they gain by knowing about fab though? I mean I understand it's a concern and they are taking liberties but how could the info actually be used? |

Privacy and internet don't go together. As has been said many times before - once it's online it's everywhere and forever.

History tells us that implemented technology likely broadens its scope and abilities over time.
Fab profiles are accessible to the public, meaning that other technologies could also access profiles via simple means.
I think that with the enormous volumes of data being compiled, shared, and sold, upon the population, that it's not currently in the general best interests of us all. It's thus helpful for us to minimise the data that gets added about us, that can in future be accessed by anyone at all.
It's helpful not to use a search engine that stockpiles data on you, so don't use Google and most of the others. Startpage is 1 possible Internet search engine you may want to check out - there are others that are more private than Google too. |
