This may have raised previously.. Apologies if so..
When using the who's near feature, the nearest distance given appears to be "a quarter of a mile".
Have just taken a look at this sister, sorry brotherly site, fab guys and nearest feature gave "3 minute walk"...
Can fabswingers not also be more accurate.. |

"I would turn my location off if it was that close on this site, it’s creepy!"
I agree. You may like to know exactly where a fellow fabster is / maybe they don’t. It’s a good compromise. Close....but not too close. |

Accurate LOL.
We don't use "who's near" (we don't even use FAB on a mobile at all) yet it sometimes drives us crazy.
It regularly puts us 5km from someone in Tenerife (not been for over 20 years) Fuertaventura (again over 20 years since we were last there) and The Algarve (never been at all)
It even once put us in Jamaica when we were actually in Singapore.
Strangely enough it has never put us in Germany (where we live) or the Costa Blanca (where we spend nearly half a year)
We'd love it to be more accurate. |

"This is a product design decision. We don't think it's appropriate for this site to have closer distances shown on "who's near".

Appreciate a response from the top...and an explanation..though I'm sure you can understand enquiry with owning both sites..
Your answer can open other questions but I'll let others raise those... |

If you think of it from a woman's point of view, you may understand why it's not a good idea,it's not safe for many different reasons

I appreciate it very much. Some people are boundary challenged enough with quarter of a mile, which is why I usually keep the feature off. |

There was a post ages ago from a woman who posted, naively, that she was in her local Costa, and had a man come in and message her while staring at her. It really upset her. And that was with a quarter of a mile. |

Why? They still don't know who you are or where you are exactly |

I took a train journey recently from Nottingham to Brighton . I had two people send me messages on the way clearly finding me on " who's near".By the time I had read them I was 10 miles south and never intending to stop the train! |
