Bumped into

I was thinking the other day about how often folk are posting about being on the bus or train or out in a pub and wondering who else on here might be there.

How about a feature that picks up if you are at the same location or say with 150m and gives you a "bumped into" notice on your profile, although only if both profiles are online at the same time.

.

In theory it's a nice idea, but it would have to be something you could opt in for and it only show up if you both opted into it. I know a lot of people would be very very freaked out if it gave people a notice everytime someone on here bumped into them

Sounds like a stalker app. Can’t imagine many women or couples would feel comfortable with that.

The "who's near " lets you know you are close to someone, but I doubt if Admin would put the distance that close

I've driven and walked past a few local fabbers. I live in a small town with a few locals and it would go off all the time but I don't see the point if they've interested we'll get chatting on here.

I've recognised and naturally didn't say anything because that would be weird.

If you could choose whether it was enabled or not that wouldn't be a problem. I'd quite like it, I'm a nosey mare though

Strava has a function like this and to be honest it's as creepy as fuck. And that's on a site for runners and cyclists so fuck knows what it would be like on here

Awful is the word you are looking for. Can you imagine how some with stalkerish tendencies may behave?!

We like the idea of being able to opt-in to more accurate, "who's nearby" search, as we're mostly happy to be approached.

I'd opt out. Stalkerish tendencies, as a user put it above.

I’m not 100% sure of the accuracy of that. I’ve seen people who are saying that they’re within 1/4 of a mile when I know there’s no one else around.

I sometimes look at my profile and I'm within a mile of myself. I'm beside myself lol.

He didn't but it would certainly enable those who get a kick out of hassling people the ability to. Terrible idea but doubt it would be implimented.
