I know this will probably get ignored but, i thought I'd try and help by letting everyone know that by default everybodys profile is searchable from Google and viewable without even joining the site!I'm not sure about anyone else's view but i consider it a bad decision on the site owners as you would of thought discretion and privacy would be important due to the nature of the site. As I've stated in another thread i believe these default settings probably have caused problems for members in the past as essentially all is really needed is a person's user name on here, for example, if your a nosey neighbour, who's heard that your user name is greatdongdoesdallas, they do a quick Google search of the name, clicks link, goes to your profile and sees your profile pics and a list of people you've met, it's game over! While we personally would not be terribly effected if this did happen to us, i thought it important to at least let people know that the default settings are not very private. Cheers jk |

Point noted, however:
You'd need to be registered to see pics.
If someone knew your username on here presumably they could just register and view your profile anyway.

Show profile to non-registered users: You can choose to have your profile page hidden from anyone who isn't a member (also hides it from search engines).
Show my profile to non-registered users (it's hidden) could I ask for the sake of clarity for a intuitive mind, what this setting achieves? |
