Fake profiles flooding site

Tried to contact the admin about this but I've never had a reply, the amount of fake profiles on here is ridiculous! Surely it's time for the site too go photo verified only? Sort it out admin!

Admin don't generally reply to messages unless appropriate I believe. As for fakes, everyone has their own definition of a fake, and that might not be the case anyway as many long standing members on here are not picture verified. These picture's can be faked easily too so it wouldn't prove anything in my opinion

If you look at the new members, there seems to be a bot creating profile after profile with similar names or ones advertising external sites is what I mean. I think requiring everyone to be photo verified would be a good thing to have anyway

I know the ones you mean. There’s no need for photo verification, just block newbies and unverified, the problem almost resolves itself. The remainder are fairly easy to sort out between fake and genuine.

There are also many, many profiles using photos taken from the internet. Often I report dozens of them (after a reverse image search) but often the photos are not removed and the profile usually remains.

If a profile is clearly using stolen photos it is fake in my book and the profile should be at least suspended and removed if the photos are clearly not theirs.

I totally understand what you are talking about. Yesterday there where dozens that suddenly appeared. Very obvious fakes. Computer genarated usernames, photos showed up on loads of other sites in a Google image search, no profile text except some that tryed to direct you to another Web site, name on profile was male.

There was loads all the space of about an hour. I reported loads and to fair they were removed very quickly.

Even some giving snapchat names, then when you add on snapchat you find they are a monthly subscription to see more type

Because a photo appears on the internet doesn't in itself mean the profile is fake.

Unless it's George Clooney or Elisabeth Hurley, in which case it's pretty obvious.

Got to be honest, I've not seen a profile like anyone here's described.

As someone else said, just block new profiles, unverified profiles, not site supporter profiles and the problems gone.

Do report if suspicious though.

I don't normally look at many profiles but yesterday I was having a rare look at new photos and it was one after another. I reported as many as I could and fab removed them. They were scammers and bots.

They ain't got time to fix that just report it. How you know they are what you say you assume they could be?

This was reported and what happened was that /profile/ search line was removed by admin.

So the ones that cropped up yesterday all had computer genarated names, all very attractive young women who had only been on the site less than an hour, all had face photos that came up in Google search as from other websites and in the details it was a man's name and then had a website like to another site.

But admin dealt with mist of them very quickly.

We've always thought this & people always come back with "I don't want my face on here" etc. Thing is it doesn't have to be your face just your bod holding up your username.

Than again why would admin sort it, most are single women so dragging in more paying men & couples.

Might even be the sites own not creating them? Who knows....

But blocking newbies & unverified is the way forward, unless of course you think every newbie is a naive virgin & ripe for the taking.

Google image search is one, Tineye or something was another.

Why? Spammers use a different IP address every single time.

We suspend many, many 100s, automatically, daily. If you see some that slip through the net, hit REPORT and helps us track new ones

Fake profiles will always be created but maybe stricter photo checking before allowing it to be published would help,

When photos of cakes, posters, and objects get by the volunteer mods it does seem the admin are overwhelmed sometimes.

I guess because I block all newbies.

I just report any suspicious profile and let admin handle it. I keep reporting if the profile is still around (especially if the images are found elsewhere on reverse search).

It might take time because they are inundated with other reports as well but being here for years, I know admin is doing their job as best as they can.

I hadn't come across any until someone mentioned fake womens profiles. Went on browse and new women and there were 6 or 7 new profiles advertising other sites and as quick as I could report them , more were loading up.

Something we thought of when the new video option was available, was to upload a video of the users writing down their username and showing it to the camera for a proper validation.

There could be video moderators that are specifically for video verification.

It would reduce but not eliminate most of the fake profiles.

It's such a good site it seems a shame to have people abuse and ruin it for genuine users.

Why would you want to send a "fake" person messages?

Depending on why you think the person is fake depends on what happens when Admin look at the report. Everything has to be verified before any action is taken and the proof obviously has to be on this site or they can't verify.

Admin do get 100's of reports a day so it can take up to 48 hours or even longer if busier than usual so please be patient.

I will paste onto the next post what Admin say they do with reports

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******
