Following a recent discussion with friends, some of whom were complaining that they never know about upcoming social events in their area until they're over and all the veris start popping up, I had a look at how 'local updates' actually works, and realised something.
If a man, woman, or couple doesn't have women ticked in 'Looking For', they don't see women's updates, unless the woman is already a friend or on their hotlist. So, if I'm hosting a Social event, I'm wasting my time putting up status messages saying that there are places left for ladies... The ladies won't see them, and this is probably why there is always a huge response from men, but less for women. You can't rely on forum threads to get the word out either, as only a small percentage of Fabbers use the forums. The alternative of course is to spam every woman within 100 miles with an event announcement in their mailbox, but who wants to do that? And again, if they have filtered females, you can't contact them anyway.
There are interest options for adult parties and swinging clubs... So why not Social Events?
Given that most Socials are run by women, those who have excluded women from their 'looking for' end up missing out. |
