Eventhou, I agree it's a good idea to hide your profile when visiting others to avoid stalkers, it will be helpful just to know some man/woman/tv/couple from xxx visited your profile.
This way you can gauge the true traffic on your profile, as the vast majority hides their visits.
I'm not saying to eliminate the feature just hide personal info. |

What's the point of knowing the 'actual traffic' on your profile? Is it just a numbers game, so that you know your profile has been visited X number of times over a certain period?
The point of 'ninja views', as you stated yourself, is to avoid stalkers, but not just that. It is also to avoid messages in the style of 'Hi, you looked at my profile, fancy a chat?'. No, thank you - personally, if I liked what I saw, I would have messaged.
So please stop throwing your toys out of the pram, OP, and accept that people choose not to show on 'who looked at me'. |

He isn't throwing his toys out of his pram, he is suggesting a new feature. You missed his suggestion completely |

"I am guessing the man would just like to see which sex is looking at his profile ie how many men/ women and couples rather than just a blanket number...it seems a good suggestion to me" thought of this but what are the positives? If 100 females looked at profile and none message could just make a person feel bad.

I can understand why that would be useful. Would help him to know if he needs to change it up a bit if views drop. If a new pic is added can gauge if it increased views. Besides, someone knowing if you have visited their profile does not make them a stalker. In fact, those who use “ninja” mode to view are more likely to be the stalker, they can view every few minutes and nobody would know. |

Sounds like a good idea to me. It would be interesting to know the breakdown of who views. |

tbh this is actually why I use ninja mode, I don't want people thinking I'm stalking them if I happen to visit their profile twice or more in a short space of time. When I first joined the site I did used to send profiles I visited and liked a little 'nice pics, keep up the good work' kind of message - even if I wasn't interested in meeting or too far away for it even to be worth considering, but I honestly don't know how well that goes down so I stopped.
I always find it a bit... Not 'odd' exactly, but definitely a little disappointing when I see someone visit my profile a few times on the trot but still not chat to me either directly or on the forums.

Personally would not mind if got rid of the who looked at me completely and how many views.
Have never contacted anyone from it who has not messaged or at least winked and the how many views as said previously, Just a number that pay no interest in.

"What would knowing the actual number that visited acheive?
Personally can think of none but if could enlighten OP will be my new thing i learnt for the day
"
Easy... to know if you're attracting views or not.
As any Web page Admin or in this case find it useful to gauge if the Web page, the profile, is attracting attention.
Just to see what works and what not.
But at any moment, I'm not saying to let ID information be release. Just very general info |

"You would have to ask the OP what he thinks are the positives, but for me, at least he would know if any women ( if that is what he is looking for ) are actually looking at his profile."
Exactly, so he/she can hone in the details that could attract more people or if the profile has a lot of hits but no msgs, well implement changes....
I think if you're mature enough (lol) , you'll see this as a serious way to improve your profile. |

If you savvy about it you could constantly hone you profile based on the amount of messages you get. Which is availiable now.
Could use that as a basis for how your profile is doing.
Low cost/no cost solutions. The tools already there to do what you need.

If you look at your profile as being a kind of mini website, it stands to reason you might want to see some kind of traffic statistics especially in response to any changes you've made. Plus it's just nice to know how many visitors you've had. |

Think treating your profile as a website may be the wrong way to go about things here. Know you ment to 'sell' yourself but not that way
If you here to generate views then it a great idea. See what tweaks increase. Record what time of day etc. But guessing most here to meet in some form or other.
How would you translate the number of views into messages/meets? Some things are out of your control. For every change you make to try and attract one person could be putting another off.

I see it like this-
If I get 300 views and 3 messages I know there's something wrong with me or my profile.
If I get 10 views and 10 messages I must be doing something right.
If I get 10 views and no messages I need to fix my profile pic and profile title as people aren't bothering to actually click on my profile and view it. |

It's no different from MySpace or even a dating site. IMO it's valuable to know if you're not getting any messages because nobody's visiting your profile, or if you're getting no messages because people are visiting but being put off getting in touch.
Again if you're a single woman or a couple you might not have need of it because you're getting the messages anyway but if you're a single bloke looking for women and yet the only people that visit your profile are male, that might be a sign you needed to change your photo to one where you're not dressed like an extra from the Blue Oyster etc etc |

I agree.
Except many women view in stealth and we don't show up on the Looked at me page. So he may be getting lots of women views but he won't know with the current system. |

Exactly which is why the OP's proposal such as I remember it that when ninjas visit you you should at least be able to see their gender and a rough age group even if their identity remains shrouded in mystery... |

What if they view and just do not find attractive? ( this not aimed at anyone just pointing things out why someone would not message).
How could you improve?
Using us as an example. Some days have had 200 views with no messages. Not going to change profile or pics as we happy with it and it attracts the people we want. Just put it down that we not their type and forget about (we could get plastic surgery to improve pics )
Rather then looking at amount of views and changing just to get messages. Would it not be best to set the profile how you want and not change to please others? Then when you find someone you know you match. And when you do, you find regulars .
If change profile just to get interest sounds a bit desperate (no offense intended) |

Just think of the by-product of all those men being teased by ladies going on their profiles.
Oh the complaints, threads saying it isn’t fair. Frustrated men getting more frustrated by not knowing, the entitlement.....
Think it is a great idea. |

Nope. Hate to be the party pooper but still hearing more negatives than positives. Time could be spent better improving in other ways.
Didnt think about all the complaining as mentioned in another post. Think that would drive people away. This is a fun site hence why here. If went that way we and sure others would move to another. |

I think you're missing that nobody is talking about deplacating user confidentiality... In fact, this is still important.
This is just to see a faceless stat....
BTW: LinkedIn has this feature and ppl love it. And they can still see other profiles without giving any of their information...

Think this is a great constructive idea to a long problem. Nice one OP. Obviously many didn't read what you said, they just don't out the usual tripe about wanting to Nika and not wanting stalkers or unwanted messages, all of which you so nicely showed would still be their safe perogative.
The OP has a good point. It would be useful to see numbers as he says.
He never asked that they be identified if you read it again , just that you be a statistic to guage things.
Reasons off top of head:
1. Maybe spent an hour updating ones profile and instead if asking in forums to only get the same people saying much the same pat, one might get better more honest results from none forumites.
2. Maybe one has recently posted a few things in the forums, this may help to see that it was noticed.
3. The Ladies could have a truer figure of real populaity views and lets us all know in status updates.
4. It may help some quite disheartened guys from throwing in the towel prematurely.
5. We could have a 'real' new forum topic. How many views today or this week.
Just a few... |

I wouldn't mind this at all. I use the feature solely to avoid "you looked at my profile, now you have to fuck me" stupidity I used to get. (as long as it was fairly general, nor so specific as to be able to identify me) |

Nope not missing anything. You on about numbers. when have i mentioned about seeing the person who looked?
As you say a faceless fact. Just that. Cannot see anything to be gained from it.
And people at linked in like it. But this is not that. Be asking for likes next lol. Differant social media is for differant things.

That's not what is being talked about here. We are talking about anonymous usage stats. How many people visit the page, and what their gender is. Not suggesting disabling stealth mode at all. |

so...you're a disheartened single man who thinks nobody is looking at him because those who are do it in ninja mode and aren't interested so don't message...this feature now tells him that 30 single women and 20 couples looked at him, weren't interested and didn't message...not being funny, but how does that help? |

I'm just struggling to see what it adds...I'm really not trying to be obtuse but if I come and look at your profile (I haven't by the way) see that you're either not bi, too young, or have a raft of bare backing verifications and click off your profile...what is it going to tell you that you will find of use if you know a MF couple looked at you? |
