Resetting inbox filters

An option to be able to reset message filters would be advantageous for those who have been on Fab for while.

Having been on over a year and messages from 1000s of people means they won't be filtered when using the filters to block single males/couples/tv ts/women

A simple reset for them as an option so reverts to only friends can message would be great. Basically wiping slate clean.

I don't wish to block people whom I would occasionally chat to seems unfair and drastic to do so just to stop non-friends from inboxing.

If this couldn't be possible, then categorisation of inbox being able to choose messages from those you want to see friends, hotlist and other would be beneficial.

Both a reset and category tabs possible would be even better in any case.

My only options at the moment is ignoring messages (means I can't read friends messages lost in the chaotic inbox since there is no page scrolling of messages), deleting them (which to others implies I'd never want to chat to them which is not the case, having the time to reply to 100s of messages when chatroom is perfectly functionable) or making a new account with all filters set (which has its issues of not being recognised, refriending, etc).

I think I understand. Like being able to block single guys, but currently if they've already messaged/been replied to they can keep messaging, so want to be able to block that?

Indeed, when I want to open my inbox again to non-friends I can. Being able to reset that to friends only when I choose. Ie resetting the filters

It's not just single men but couples of all types and what not.

I'll second this. I might have even suggested it in the site survey a while back.

Manchester (she/her)

Yes, I'd love that. Sometimes I just want to browse without being bugged by people I don't know... including those I was polite to months ago and thus can message me even when my filters are set so that pretty much no one can.

If you've already chatted with someone in the past then that should override any new filters you have set.

This is definitely a fab idea!

If that person turns out to be a complete tool though and you don't want them to be able to message you, or you want a break from said person without blocking them, that should take priority

North West

I suggested a "preferred" inbox system where you could move people you wanted to keep into and it would sort the inbox so people don't get lost, but alas didn't get done.

Would be good. I just started a new profile instead and added my friends back so I can chat to who I want to and not have a load of junk mail sitting there.
