we’ve chosen to use the “no public photos on profile filter” and are finding so many are moving a photo to public, messaging and then moving it to private again to get around the filter making the filter pointless.
Having done some checks I see that when someone messages with no public photos they’re presented with the following message:
“User only wants messages from people who have photos on their profile”
Would it be better to perhaps not alert them to why they can’t message and replace with something else such as “user has restrictions/filters in place which you do not match”.
Just an idea as we find it very sneaky and have the filter in place for a reason.

Over the roundabout and then turn right. |
There will always be those who find ways to circumnavigate the system. These people already do not respect your preferences, so in our eyes it's worth an immediate block since things can only get worse from there.

Agree. And that’s what we do.
But we feel if they weren’t alerted to why they can’t message then they wouldn’t know to circumnavigate the system. As currently it’s telling them how to get around the filter so makes it’s pointless to have it as a “filter” option in the first place. |

I can see your point, but we would prefer to understand why. For example if we were filtered out because we are too young (yeah, right, but it's only an example) then we would know we could try again in 'x' amount of time.

I see your point there. However, age ranges people are seeking are displayed on their profile (if read of course ) so they don’t really require to pop up as a detailed warning why they can’t message.
Said filters that may be in place are not displayed on persons profiles
Must point out we’ve encountered persons changing age ranges before to get around that also. And then be stuck with that new age as you can only change once and then continue with it. |
