could the site please please please disable right click?
there is a spate of fake profiles using other people's pictures on here and it is an easy issue to fix.
just to keep other users informed...
if you goto anyones profile and look at thier pictures, press right click on any photo, you get a small menu, click on save picture, and save it to your desktop, you then can load that pic to your profile as your own!
this is how the fakes are stealing pictures, if the right click was disabled and its a simple script to write, this wouldnt happen.
if you agree that this issue should be fixed, please please put i agree under this post so that we can get this issue fixed asap and make this site a better place for all the genuine users!
thanks for reading!

This is from our FAQ (www.fabswingers.com/faq)
Why don't you right-click protect our photos to stop others stealing / saving them?
We believe in being straighforward with the members of Fab. Right click protect doesn't work and gives a false sense of security by pretending to "protect" images. Other sites may pretend they've protected your images but actually they're being dishonest by claiming that.
Right click "protect" can be gotten around in under 2 seconds by any of the following methods:
Simplest: Goto File menu, Save As, and save to desktop = The photos will be in a folder on your desktop that your browser has created.
OR... Disable JavaScript by going to Tools menu, choose Internet Options, Click the Security tab, click Custom Level, scroll to the "Scripting" section of the list and click Disable. Right click can now be used to save images.
OR... Press print screen and the image + page will be copied to clipboard where it can be pasted into a graphics program for resize or save.
We give you three privacy options on your photos and we now hide images from anyone who isn't a member of Fab. If you are worried about someone stealing your photos you may want to set them to be viewable only by your friends, or private in which case you can send by private mail.
We also now watermark all photos upon upload

thats as maybe, and yes it maybe able to get around, but seeing as this site is the best, and the way the site is growing, surely the site could find a way to solve the problems?
After all, i know the site cant stop other pictures stolen from other stes and brought in, but surely there is something that could be done??? |

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
If someone knows enough to shop out the watermarks, then they know enough to get round right click. Even a PC idiot like me knows how to use print screen.
Just lock your photos and send them out attached to messages if you're that worried. And don't forget to report any copied or fake pics. |

There are countless ways to save a picture on screen without the right click menu. Most kids of 10 or more these days do it all the time! |

may as well forget it anyway, the admin on here.....wont put the name as they clearly think were trouble makers, wiped out our profile text cause we named the person who has now left the site, so couldnt even see that we had named them!
even if you report them, what good does it do? they make a new email address and start again, they still have your pics!
maybe we should have a text verification process introduced? when you sign up, you need a password text to you instead of email accounts being used.
yes you can get free sim cards, but if they went through 10 sims and still were being found out, they would give up?
Were tired of getting timewasters and profile stealers on the site coming on and ruining it for genuine couples who really do enjoy the social side and meeting new friends.
after all, you support the site becuase its the best, why should we get a bit of protection from all the users that are here to get a kick out of stealing and looking at pictures?
just feel like some of us are fighting a losing battle |

Silly question: but seeing as the admins have stated the sites position on this - i.e. That anything they could put in place is far too easy to circumvent, then it looks like it's down to users to make their pics harder to get to - so not on public display and use photo editing software to emboss a watermark over your pics - hence causing a lot more effort for the people trying to nick your pics.
Seems like the way ahead, yes? |
