24 hour approval process for all new profiles and all photos.

Give the site a chance to eradicate time wasters and fakes.

No I don't agree, if you don't want people who leave after 12 hrs contacting you then set your message filters to filter them out.

Horny d*unken wasters aren't the same thing as fakers at all, imho.

Raised as an 'issue' every couple of weeks, introduction of a site fee would massively reduce the amount of users here, making the site worse Imo.

Fewer users means that there's a reduction in choice and fraudulent fake profiles could still pay, possibly meaning that the proportion of fake to genuine users could increase.

If you like to support the site financially, take site supporter membership and just meet people who have done the same - you may find different results.

It's sensible to implement common sense and behavior on any internet site and assume that it's 100% your own responsibility to out scams etc. It will never disappear as an internet problem.

Alternatively just use swinging clubs.

100% against a fee.

Free membership should mean dramatically reduced functionality and access. It should allow you to get a feel for what Fab is all about, but you certainly shouldn't be allowed to treat it as free porn and should have very little access to interact with full members until you show a commitment to become photo validated etc.

It's easy as anything though to set filters so that new members, free members, no-photo members, unverified members etc are unable to message you, if that is how you would like the site to be for you.

Indeed. And yet as this and countless other threads show, fake profiles and timewasters are a serious issue for many genuine Fabbers. So filters are only partly tackling the problem.

My Own Little World

I was on a pay site 6-7 years ago, set up my free single fem profile, set up 1 for my hubby too.

Strangely he received a message from my profile asking if he wanted to meet up. It would only cost him a £40-50 per month subscription to reply.

But here's the thing, I never sent any messages, the site was using my profile to message guys and rake in the ££s.

I deleted both profiles straight away, but I wouldn't discount the possibility that my pic is still on there somewhere.

If someone has filtered out free members but is still having problems with fakes and time wasters, it would seem to follow that making fab a pay-only site solves nothing.

I'm against it anyway. I don't believe that somebody being a paid member is any guarantee of their being genuine or that they won't mess anybody around. Also I think that fake/timewaster often translates as "decided not to meet me" or "met me but wouldn't have sex with me".

I've had some great meets with newbies and freebies.

I think it'd increase the amount of entitlement. I can't speak for anyone else, but I already get messages from guys who think that because I'm on a swinging/sex site I'm not allowed to say no to them. I've also read people thinking that being a site supporter means they should have an easier time of it. I'm against the idea.

As a new genuine man to this site, I totally agree. There are a good number who create an account for a day or so, get a bit of excitement and then delete account. Then people like ourselves can enjoy the site and have great times.

People should be responsible for their own bad choices... It's not the site's fault if a fabber doesn't turn up, or decides they really don't like you! they are not babysitters!

Like it free with option to support which I did previously but no difference to meets.

Would like ALL profiles photo verified by Fabswingers . That would get rid of fakers. How many actually bother to report them ?

It's my understanding that a mod looks at every picture (apart from direct) that goes on the site.

As you know verified photo needs face & website id. Lots don't bother. Asked by lady today if I had a verified meet ( previous time here ) she had one this month but no verified photo.

Who do you trust a verified photo or meet ?

If I'm in any doubt I look at the verifiers, how well are they verified etc. I'd probably trust a meet (unless I had suspicions it was fake) over photo verification. Photo verification is just, this is a real person or couple who matches the gender(s) on the profile. A meet verification is "I met this person and at a minimum they are more or less as their profile claims". I'd prefer both, but meet is more important (and published better than not).

I don't trust photo verified, many of the obviously fake profiles have been photo verified. I only trust several meet verifications if they look legit. Otherwise it's at least a telephone call.

I wasn't photo verified for awhile and one day was locked out of Fab until I did. It didn't help that (although I'd met at that stage) I'd asked to hold off on veris as I didn't want more attention than I was getting. I'm not going to speculate as to what happened, but, that's how I got photo verified.

A photo verification only agrees that the gender of the person matches the profile gender. It doesn't prove that it's true. Photo verifications are easily spoofed.

Meet verifications are really the only true test. Although I've heard of fake accounts verifying fake accounts, so it's a system that can be manipulated too.

I check meet veris and follow the trail if I have any suspicions....

Someone tried calling me a catfish earlier... until I pointed out a hundred and odd people say otherwise.

Meet veris are deffo where it’s at. (Don’t know how that helps the original post though!)

You can add one more odd person after the Manchester social.

This also does not help the original post.

He gets it.

We don't rate photo veries at all, anyone with an intent will soon figure out how to fake them.

Cam veries are suss too, easy to play a video loop into chat for a couple of minutes... we only rate them if we have seen them (both if its a couple) on cam and ask them to do something, like give a thumbs up.

Other than that, they need to have checkable (as in not hidden) veries from one or more people, and those people need to have a couple of checkable veries too.

Some say that's way over the top... but we are about to possibly travel, maybe even book a room, or turn up at someone's home, and potentially engage in something very intimate, we don't have the time, money and patience to waste.

And... the proof of the pudding... 10 years and not a single wasted journey.
