Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
This is a teeny tiny niggle, but I have noticed that sometimes my friendslist has problems catching up on my friends when they go offline. It's mildly annoying when I see someone online, message them (just a hi how are you) then check their profile and see they signed off up to 10 minutes previously.
Is there no way to make the friendslist accurately reflect when someone is online? |

I agree with you, profiles should say online or offline, not online and when you look and send a message they were last online 4 minutes ago.
Should just be on or off |

Not really, no
Most people don't login or logoff and that would be must less accurate than the method we use, anyway.
All we know is when someone last clicked a link on the site. So if they clicked in the last couple of minutes, we say they're online.
We don't know whether they intend to click another link or whether they are actually sat in front of their PC or whether they have opened another tab or wandered off to make tea. So it's the best we can do and it's probably best not to worry about it; even if someone was online and you mailed them they might have done with reading their mail and not bother with it.
