generally the database has to update to do a few things including filtering your news feed, messages and status visibility. I'd imagine that after doing that it needs re-indexing as well.
I manage a server myself so whilst it appears to be a simple function I can assure you it's not. |

I think the bigger your block list, the longer it will take for the page to load. You do not need to wait for the page to load, in order for the block to kick in.
On a PC, we always open profiles using "open in new tab". This means that we can just block, and then close that tab down. We don't wait for the block list page to load.
The mobile app is even easier, as we just block and then select the home tab, as soon as it appears (usually within a few seconds).
Our block list is shockingly large. We are speaking from experience haha. |
