Should it mean your blocked user has no visibility/contact in forums?

I think they should be the way they are blocked in chat rooms

If a person is blocked then they should not, in my opinion, be able to interact you on the site in any way.

So yes, blocks should extend to the forums too.

You can't really stop people going on forum posts, just because someone in there has blocked you, or you have blocked them, as long as you don't contact each other. Just ignore each other

I think it should make your forum posts hidden too. People can use the forum to get around the block.

On a similar theme I'd like to be able to hide threads by certain users. Some people post similar uninteresting threads over again and while I ignore them they do push other more interesting threads down the page.

I know what you mean. Someone was stalking me around the threads, some time ago, that was annoying, but normally I would just ignore them.

But then I guess alot of people block people just for a filter. so some forum posts would look rather strange to look at if you had been blocked by a few people

Wherever the party is!

Think of a forum like the village notice board. This is why it doesn't actually work when you hide a blocked user's post as it breaks the continuity of the conversation. I've blocked someone who is a prolific poster and the forums would be a nightmare if I couldn't see their posts.

Exactly this. I think we should be adult enough just to ignore these people.

Yes, this. As long as they're not bothering you in the threads, just ignore them, as you would in the 'real world'!

I've been on forums in the past where it does hide posts from people you've blocked and it's no less intelligible than a lot of the threads on here

"Should it mean your blocked user has no visibility/contact in forums?"

That would mean no posts on the forums because I bet most people are blocked by somebody lmao.

So anyone you piss off and block will come and message abuse by means of forum .which is wrong but you can tell on some threads this happens with some people .

We've blocked people that we haven't interacted with either personally or through messages, and undoubtedly others have blocked us that we are unaware of so blocks aren't always there out of spite per se. But I think to block forum posts too may render some threads pretty much pointless, if people are using the forums to get around blocks then use the facility to report them.

I block anyone who messages me who I don't want to meet, many are too far away , I don't have time for chatting to those I can't or don't want to meet. It's nothing personal, just filters messages. I don't mind if they are on forum, that's where I chat. If someone was stalking me on the forum I,d just report them, I think a complete block can be put on them then by admin, but I am not 100% sure on that. Certainly the stalker can get a ban and if it's serious suspended or booted off site. XXX

Surely it could only extend to directly quoting posts or replying on threads posted by either party? I know I'm blocked by a prominent forumite (after a certain someone couldn't argue her way out of her incorrect opinion) and we've still had interaction in the forums without incident.

Indeed you could end up with some pretty hilarious and inappropriate conversations by posts disappearing and things getting put next to each other that weren’t planned!
