I'd like to see:

Photo verification is non optional and until they are they can't send messages - this would discourage fake woman and couples profiles

Same as above for pictureless profiles

A zero tolerance approach to abusive messages, and rather then just deleting profiles fab should block the IP address

A minimum character limit on profile length.

I also think photo verification should be updated on at least an annual basis.

And uploaded photos should be deleted after a set amount of time - I've seen profile whose photos date from 2010

What does everyone else think any more ideas?

1) Verification photos can be faked. Fakers will be prepared to do that.

2) Some people will put up fake pictures

3) IP addresses can change. An innocent person may get a banned IP address. People with a banned IP address will turn of their router and get a new different IP address.

4) People will fill their profile with nonsense to get over the minimum word count.

5) See number 1

6) People would just re-upload the deleted picture(s).

I notice you are quick to dismiss my points but had no ideas of your own, all the above is true but in response to your points

1) If moderators do there job properly it would be quite easy to spot a fake verification picture, esp if existing members are prevented from posting thier verification phones

2) some people will always fake their pictures, but is beyond the ability of the average user.

3) Every device has a MAC address that is unique, and while it can be "faked" it is beyond the average users abilty

4) A person could fill there profile with nonsense but I somehow doubt that many people would respond to a profile like that

5) Phots taken by a digital camera contain metadata that tells you the date and time the image was taken and can even tell you where it was taken and I'm sure that they can be faked too, but again beyond the ability of average user

Basically you would be making it easier for genuine users to spot a fake profile and making it harder for the 1000's of fake and abusive profiles from ruining the experience

Maybe if blocking a an Mac/IP address won't work instead of photo verification then some form of identification should be uploaded, both driving licences and passport have unique identifiers that are very hard to fake

Anyone with photoshop skills can fake a photo.

Also banning IPs isn't helpful. Some setups have dynamic IP addresses or the user can set up multiple IP addresses themselves. Or what if I got banned, should my wife not be able to log into her account because the IP is banned?

Fake profiles are rife on all similar sites, sadly. Including the ones which cost a small fortune to use.

As for uploading passports.... Data protection issues, anyone?

And is even easier to change details on a scanned passport with photoshop than to alter people in a pic.

All that would maybe deter fakes, but it would also put off 85 percent of genuine users that fab make money out of, so it's highly unlikely they will take up the ideas no matter how good they are.
