Is this true? ADMIN please clarify

Just read this on a profile:

"you send mail, please send details of an off site email address as we don't use the system on here. Admin can read everything you send as PRIVATE mail "

I doubt you do read individual private emails, that said can you shed some light please.

But if the Mods or ADMIN can then this brings serious concerns under data protection.
