Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Just replied to a message and the site went slow. When I checked sent messages the poor man had got 5 messages the same! Is this a known fault?

This has happened to me before, chat rooms also taking a while to load the bit on the right hand side with all the user names.

Tips to avoid this situation:

- click post/reply etc, just 1 time.

- don't refresh browser page, just pop open to a new tab.

--

For any peeps curious about why this occurs:

This kinda thing happens on every kind of forum there is. It's exactly like motorway traffic. One guy stalls a little, and then that affect compounds down the queue until the last people are waiting for half an hour in a traffic jam. Analogously when the server (computer we're sending data to) is slow, people click submit, refresh browser pages far more frequently out of frustration, the collective affect of which is to increase the problem even more, and then more people are affected... It's a feedback loop.

Try using a different browser (e.g. google chrome) it's very strange to see such a lot of double-posting just from one user.

That said, we do plan to put something in place this end to stop double-posts.

I have a sneaky feeling it might have been my router, as t'internet kept dropping and reconnecting. I have now installed another router so see if that does the trick.
