How about an auto thingy in the subject box that kicks in when people start writing, to tell them how many times that particular subject has been covered before, or how long ago it was last posted   |

Lots of people have hooked up after posting on these type of threads. Newbies also feel they can join in on those harmless threads too.
Obviously anyone who doesn't like them can avoid as they are obvious as to what they are by the title |
