Fabswingers embossed on face photos

Couldn't they just change it to a logo without the word 'fabswingers' on the bottom so when you send a face photo to someone via the site it doesn't advertise the fact it's come from a swinging site in case it end up in the public domain for any reason.This is why we only send face photos via whatsapp or text message .Seems a basic privacy/security issue to me which has such an easy fix . |

Every photo we get is stamped . I think it's done to prevent or at least cut down people using your photos on other sites but they could get round this by cropping the bottom out . It's the fact that you have your face with fabswingers written under it which bothers us . |

I just checked mine and no stamp. I thought I read somewhere that they stopped doing this a few years back but I can't find it now...

You don't see them in "Manage photos", but look at your profile as others see it. |

They've always been on them since I first joined on good thing now is if you changed your usename they are updated. You used to need to delete a pic and reload

First, they haven't always done it because I would have noticed it before now. And they don't do it across all platforms.
Second, it doesn't stop people stealing photos - it just means that when people do steal photos they are identiably from a swingers site which is not what the user intends.
Thirdly, any good web site will respond to user feedback about such a significant issue. |

I only use the WWW (on my PC) and Mobile (on my phone) platforms and it's done on both of those. Which other platforms do you use?"

And they used to only be visible on PC/Chrome if you clicked in to view them large but now they seem to appear whenever you click on an individual photo (maybe something to do with Chrome 47). |

If it's on the bottom just crop it off x most tablets and phones have photo editing within the camera thing and it's really easy on a pc or laptop

I think you're missing the point.... the sender sends a photo using this site that DOESN'T have a URL on it. fabswingers adds the URL to it, so that the photo the recipient receives has a photo WITH the URL.
If they save that (potentially innocuous face photo) they will have a photo of that person with FABSWINGERS all over it which they could then post on social media.

Ah, no, I see, if you look, on the mobile site, at a pic attached to message, you don't see the profile name. If you look at the same attached pic, on the WWW site, it is there!

Also if you look at the photo in your sent messages or DOES NOT have the URL misleading you as to what the other person will see (which depending on their platform is likely to include the URL.
That's the bit that's wrong... It soaring differently to the sender from what the recipient will see. |

If anyone is concerned about their photo being misused, don't share it on internet so don't add to fab or other sites. Any amount of watermark or not watermarking won't change that.
As the post above says anyone malicious could just add an embarrassing URL to any image anyway.

I'm on another site and they are secure, cannot be saved and are not watermarked either. It's also a free site.

There's no technology that can stop files being downloaded. People pretend to do this one some sites but it's just marketing (also called lies). It's not real
If you can view an image on the web you can save it in around 2 seconds. There's more on this in our FAQ which you can find a link to at the bottom of the homepage.

That's simply not true as you can screensave anything you see on your screen in 1 second flat including a photo which is no different to downloading one as the effect is the same ie that image is saved to your own device |

There's no technology that can stop files being downloaded. People pretend to do this one some sites but it's just marketing (also called lies). It's not real

As a web developer you should know...
If you have a download button next to an image about 90 in 100 people will download it.
If you allow right click about 50 in 100 people will download it.
If you disable right click about 5 in 100 people will find a way round it (especially if you tell them how)
I agree it's impossible to stop it but, as with so many things on the web, it's not about that. It's about making it hard enough that people don't bother.
Ultimately the right click issue is a red herring. What's wayyyy more important is allowing your users (especially paid users) to remove the watermark on their face pics on all platforms. Surely you must agree this is eminently sensible considering the large amount of people on here who wouldn't want their face connected to Fab. If you deal with this who cares about right click saving. |

2. Why does it not show to the sender that the image sent has had a URL embossed - the image in the sent message does not have it
3. why not have an opt out that people can choose to use or not
4. Why not make it clear, eh via text explanation or warning that images will be embossed
In my mind the issue is not whether images or are embossed are not but rather the users knowledge and expectations.
If people know clearly that they are going to be url stamped then they can make their own decisions what to do with their pics.
If they don't know then they may be being misled into false expectations. |

I don't post any pictures i wouldn't want people i know to see. My sexy ones have no faces. My face ones are just normal not sexy face pics.
As for the stamp. You could take a picture of anyone you know and put it on here and its got a stamp. If people are going to be vindictive they don't have to wait to steal one of your pictures off here. They will just do it themselves anyway. |

Agree with the above and this thread has revealed that many people are not aware that their face photo has the fabswingers location stamped on it.
A simple solution is just a small logo eg a flower at the bottom without the URL .Otherwise why not go the whole hog and stamp 'Swinger site member ' onto it to make it even clearer to the general public ! |

Hi, If you put up face photos then keep in your private folder and only send to a trusted users...unless you want your neighbour, press or work mates to see . once it on the web its their for life..  |

I agree that anyone can be vindictive. ..but that's then easily defended against and if it's been added they can not prove it's real...Therefore the victim can easily show it's face and someone is being vindictive.

I've missed out on a few meets because I won't send a face pic using fab and they don't or won't use kik. However I'll stand my ground and it's not worth the risk....remember any pic on the Internet is permanently placed on there for ever and one has no idea how new software with ferret out Internetphotos and activity Iin the future....even some companies for job interviews are now accessing your online information prior to selection. |

I'm perfectly capable of working out the risks and making decisions about how to use the site in a way that I am comfortable with.
The issue is the site behaving differently from how it appears to behave (to the pic sender), without them being aware or able to control. |

BTW at risk of starting another hare running... Sending original image files via email isn't necessarily better due to the meta data contained in the image (eg name info, date, time, GPS location)

Having it across the bottom means they can easily be cropped and still stolen. The currentway iit's marked wouldn't stop any being stolen. ..It would need to be more obvious and across the middle. |

Maybe I'm just questioning the reason why fab do it....It may not be to prevent pic stealing as it's obvious it doesn't do that. There must be another reason. Maybe advertising? |

I'm not admin but watermarks are a good thing as other Fab users can't steal your pics, post them to Fab, and pretend they're you. So watermarks should, ideally, be on all platforms. However, it's also clear that watermarks on face pics are bad precisely as most users wouldn't want their faces attached to membership of a swinging site. Thus, rather than try to automate the process, I'd suggest the site merely give users the tools to elect to have watermarks removed on photos they don't want it on. Simple |

Chrome on Android...
Carry out the function on chrome on PC and the pics have watermarks...
What this shows is that the url is being added to the pic dynamically at the time it viewed depending on browser... The source image stored obviously doesn't have the URL which is why it doesn't show the URL when the sender views what they've sent.. It isn't actually being sent only an image id from which the receiving browser creates what the receiver sees.
Overall, I'm not really bothered, it would be helpful to work differently in my view... But it's more important that it is obvious how it works, and right now it isn't.
But otoh it's only a minor thing compared to some awful the whole messaging system is

It's a good point you make about some people doing their own watermark right across the whole of the photos they send to Fab so people can't steal the photo and use it elsewhere but at least they can choose their own watermark without swinging mentioned on it unlike the watermark the site puts onto all photos which does identify its linked to swinging and that's a massive difference |

Probably because that is the name of the website you voluntarily joined.
If you don't want pictures of your face with the words Fabswinger on then don't upload face pics, plenty of people on here don't. They send their face pics via other forms of media, kik for example where you don't even need to exchange a phone number.
It is highly unlikely that the site watermark will be omitted from the photos on here, in the 6 odd years I've been here the amount of times it has been requested that Fab geography becomes more realistic is amazing, but we are still waiting for this. But admin did change the colour of the online dot, so things do change. |

We now don't send face photos via Fab for the reason you say but it's been quite a revelation to hear so many users on this very thread mention they had no idea their face photos were being altered by having the word swingers watermarked onto them .
So a the very least don't you think that every time we press upload to add a photo to our profile it has a simple message ' do you agree to the word fabswingers being added to your photo ?' Click Yes or no ? Not difficult that surely for any website ? |
