Why is Fab messaging so poor?

Maybe this has been covered before but why is Fab messaging so poor? There is no organisation to the messages and they just drop off the screen after a certain time.
As a guy that's not a huge problem for incoming mail. The volume is handleable and I'm unlikely to miss one.
However for women, who may receive 100s of messages daily, it's a more onerous task. For a guy messaging that's worrying. Is my message to the woman with whom I've been in conversation unread because she's lost interest or because she's just missed it?
Why doesnt Fab have a flagging option or a sort option? In this day and age it's child's play. Is there some reason of which I'm not aware for the current limitations? |

We agree, we'd love a system similar to texting where all the messages from one person are in their own little thread without each one showing separately as well on the page.
It gets so confusing at the moment trying to keep track, especially if we're both on and having several conversations.
Maybe as a site supporter only feature? |

"My best guess is that it's child's play if the software supports it.
If a woman is interested in a man or vice versa, there will be no missing of messages. "
I don't think that's always true. I've had messages unread and then sent a follow up and got a reply to that. Of course its possible to read a short message in your inbox without clicking on it and tagging it as read... |

Yeah but we are talking about changes so trivial that the cost would be negligible. |

I get that but I've never used a site where the messaging system has been like this one. I've been a mod on several in the past and usual forum set ups use the standard single thread. |

Most sites don't even let you message without paying. |

Site Supporters already get an improved inbox, with thread-type management of conversations

Even though the site is free,it has developed and progressed over the years and I think this is another option admin could perhaps consider for the future |

This is the one major thing I would change about this site. The inbox setup is horrible and I don't really think it's excusable. If they charged one more dollar to be a site supporter and gave me a useable inbox, I'd pay it. |

I think a couple of folders for messages is a good idea.
One for friends and the ability to add others as maybe a favourite, those you want to chat to in one folder. And new contacts and those you aren't that interested about in another.
Oh and drop the read/unread in the sent messages, causes angst with some members. |

But you still get all messages showing separately. It's untidy and confusing.
I agree with MarcCourtney, it's a pretty poor feature of the site. |

If you delete the singular messages, it's not untidy and the thread resumes when the next new message comes in |

I'd pay a dollar, I think a pound would be pushing it
I dislike the inbox/messaging system on here too, which leads me to take conversations off site sometimes. I'd be here using it a lot more if the messaging was more user friendly. |

It's a shame! It means that I miss some of the nicer fellows because there messages fall out the bottom of my inbox before I'd have a chance to reply. I'm constantly trying to clear the backlog but as soon as I've made some headway it's full again. I've struggled to meet people because of this which makes me consider trying a different site.
For those saying it's a free site. A lot of us pay.
Even the ability to search your inbox would be extremely helpful. |

If a woman is interested in a man or vice versa, there will be no missing of messages. "
There is if she has been offline for several hours and in that time received 150 messages. Only the most recent 100 will show up. If yours is in the other 50 then it doesn't matter if you are friends/in a chain of messages or anything else....it is gone!
That's how it seems to work so the OP has a valid point. |

Its not gone ... Once they delete messages further up the inbox it will show
And if the woman is getting 150 messages every couple of hours then i suspect she isnt really much interested in proper chat or meets but most likely just massaging her ego with how much mail she can get ... With the use of filters there is no reason for your inbox to be that full of crap |

No it ain't.
Once they delete those 40 pointless messages that say hi and nothing else, another 20 fancy a fuck and meet now mail, then hey presto!
There is the message.

Also if you're a Site Supporter you can Save whatever messages you want from your Read Mail inbox, delete them from Read Mail, & the ones that have "dropped out of sight" will come back up the list of Mail.
Mail doesn't really disappear unless you physically delete it. It's a bit like your 50 Recently Fabbed Pics - if you unFab your most recent ones then the older ones come back up your list.
(I'm sure I could've explained that in a better analogy, but hope you get the idea).
In other words, if you just delete the most recent Read Mail then all the older ones come back into view.

What would be handy is when looking at another Users Profile who has previously messaged you, that you could click a button that brings up any Mail that person has sent you (even if it's a year old) rather than having to scroll through a load of Read/Saved Mail in your own Mail Boxes. That kind of link could mean that you never miss a Mail that HAS dropped out of view from your Mail Box. It would also help keep track of your convos as sometimes I find the current system a bit clunky especially if someone has sent me Mail using different Subject Matter Fields.
Just a wee suggestion. |

Who has to pay to send messages then?? |

"What I meant is plenty pay to use the site, I'm fully aware all can message for free."
But they aren't paying to send messages, that is free to all. What they are doing is CHOOSING to pay for additional benefits, they don't have to do it to send or receive a message. |

But more folders could be added for those who do pay- it's the organisation people want help with.
As a benefit it would be worth paying for imo. |

That's a very nieve comment ..
How many site supporters are ?
Very little investment back into the site except server space hire which is no doubt offshore and very cheap .

I wish! I make my profile very clear and if I've posted something in the forum, depending on content, I cam come back to upwards of 70 messages. |

You dont make it as clear as you think ... You havent even filtered out couples or men from what you are looking for let alone the ability to message you ... Meaning you will show up in their searches even though you think you have clearly said you dont want them |

I have filtered out men and couples from what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for says exactly that. Women. Nothing else. Just women.
The words on my profile also say exactly what I'm looking for. Again, just women.
And no I don't block everybody and his dog from mailing me, part of that is because I post on the forums, I have discussion with people about bdsm, the weather all manner of things that aren't about a bloke getting his dick wet.
There are men who are very happy to have eloquent conversation.
Anyway. I wasn't complaining, I'm not even overly fussed. (Although the '40th hey babe I'm nearby wanna fuck gets a bit judging')I was just pointing out that women who get 150+ emails a day aren't just here to deliberately do that (or however you worded it) |

yes please, word search for the entirety of the site. The forum search works, so why not have the same for mailboxes and profiles?
Like people mentioned I also use saved messages as a starring system/"important mail" folder. I've always assumed that the scrolling off effect is deliberate to keep communications of-the- moment, it certainly gives a spin to how contacts work here. As a site supporter it is quite confusing to me to see on a user's profile that we have been chatting but have no way to see that conversation. Sometimes I paste whole messages in the private notes field so as to keep track of what's been said - that's not normal is it! I thought we had computers for that
I think the lost/missing messages issue as outlined by OP is ultimately a volume issue though, not a mailbox organisation issue. |

Unless youre female - most of them let fems chat for free.. just like getting into clubs for free... it will attract the males to said site if women are there to chat to |
