Remove block button

And have to request a block from site admin instead citing a reason.

I am getting pretty tired of people over using the block button.

Examples; someone leaves you a nasty message then blocks you denying you the right of reply. That's something teenagers do on Facebook, fab is an adult site so let's act like adults.

Then there's someone asking for a photo, you send, then find yourself immediately blocked? Ami that bad? Do people lack the manners and up bringing to say, sorry not for me? If I given someone the courtesy of complying with their pic request, I feel I'm owed the small courtesy of a 'thanks but no thanks' in the very least.

We're becoming like children on here or teenagers on tinder. 'Nah block' is becoming a standard response. This destroys the swinging community spirit and does nothing to foster it.

This is why the block button needs to be redesigned or taken away. It's being abused and changing people's behaviour. Block is a lazy function that absolves a person of the need to be polite but firm, a valuable life skill.

Yes if you are getting vile abuse you should be able to block someone, but requesting from site admin and giving the reason will allow them to block the email /IP from repeat offenders. They can be challenged on anti social behaviour. If you block an idiot and just leave him to be someone else's problem, then you are contributing to the issue for not reporting the offender at the earliest opportunity allowing it to be dealt with. Plus simply blocking some idiots mean they get enraged and register a new account to carry on.

So block button needs redesigning to stop this turning into Facebook/tinder

OP, chill out, this is not to be taken seriously. Why the hell are you bothered that a complete stranger on the interenet that you're never going to meet has blocked you? Really, its not personal. They are not interested for whatever reason and don't want to waste yours or their time further.

Hang on this forum is for site feedback, I'm offering site feedback, why does that annoy you?

I had plenty great meets on fab over the years, I got nice verifications, I'm not worried bout me.

I take it you identify yourself as someone who prefers to just block than actually say thanks or no thanks? If Politeness and good manners are too much to ask for then what has the world come to?

You assume wrongly my lovely. I run my profile in a way that I do the searching as no one can message me. On my previous profile I'd happily say thanks but no thanks as I believe its nice to be nice however, after many abusive messages back after polite rejection, I did start to block following my no thanks message. I do beleive more people would say no thanks rather than block if it wasn't for the small minority of users who hurl abuse becasue they cannot take polite rejection in a mature and respectful way.

Admin are volunteers who do a great job but can take up to 48 hours to respond to reports so to facilitate your idea I'd assume they might need more admins/mods which would possibly incur the need to charge every user. If I was getting abuse from a particular user and had to wait this long to block them then I wouldn't be too happy to be fair.

Even sending "thanks but no thanks" has gotten me abusive messages back many, many times. Then there's the weirdos who create multiple accounts to hound and continue sending horrible messages. So I am another advocate of the block button. OP, it also saves you the bother of contacting someone who isn't interested.

Check the sites FAQ section, the site doesn't see not answering messages as either rude or something that must be done.

The blocking function enables you to stop people you're not interested in showing in your local news feed.

I very often block people that show up on there, without a message ever being sent, simply because by the pics that have come up I know I'm not interested

I also have far more people ask me to block them when I've said no thanks.... So that they don't bother me again

The block function is just that, a function that you can use if you want, or not

Yes, if someone messages me says hey can I see a pic, after sending them one, I'd like any kind of acknowledgement. Even a blunt 'not for me ta' Not immediately blocking. I can't see why that's odd or unusual. Just as If someone asks can they borrow something or if my daughter asks for a tenner for phone credit, I'd prefer a quick thanks over immediate silent treatment, or ostracism. Too many people now use blocking as a passive aggressive form of contempt.

In a bar a woman wouldn't say "wanna buy me a drink stranger" down it and fuck off. Even if they just playing you they usually play the game and chat for five mins. To take the first path is to invite unpleasant consequences.

Tinder is for swipe right/left based purely on looks. I thought swinging was a bit subtler. I am aware I am usually completely wrong but hey forgive me for wanting to live in a world where folks say please and thank you.

Women don't reply in general if not interested because of, as mentioned previously, the few who think its acceptable to hurl personal abuse and insults in response so really, this experience that thankfully, not all of us have experienced on here, has made many behave like this. So who is to blame really? Do these women not have manners? Of course most of them do but they're fed up with the abuse and don't know whether you would do the same so block just in case. Personally, if you're going to block I feel you should just politely say no thanks before hand but hey ho, this is fab and what we want doesn't always happen.

The block button is an important part of Fab and anyone thinking it can be removed, just so they can have the last word, is a bit naive I'd say.

The block button is used to manage our experience on here and without it the place would be a nightmare. Every self-entitled Tom, Dick & Harry able to keep messaging you

As others have said, no one owes anyone anything on here. Apart form the £5 to the site

Separately if I send someone my picture and they block me immediately, I may see that as stalking or harassment. CPS guidelines indicate harassment is a criminal offence where 'behaviour causes an individual distress". If I'm distressed technically you commuted a criminal offence.

Obviously I'm being bloody minded here so please for fucks sake no one jump on that previous statement. Just treat people how you expect to be treated. If you don't want courtesy and manners, create a platform where more and more people men resort to crude one liners and abusive messages because the only consequence is now being blocked.

My Own Little World

I block people I have no interest in meeting, those that send me boring message after boring message, those who won't take no for an answer and mail me again, repugnant or abusive messages, those who keep posting pics I find unattractive in my local updates and finally those who come across as irritating cunts in the forums.... I guess you could take that as 'as a passive aggressive form of contempt', I see it as my choice.

If one word is capitalised it isn't shouting,it is highlighting or stressing a word which is the only way on doing it in a forum that doesn't give the ability of changing the font, making it bold or in italics. Had the whole sentence been in caps then THAT would be shouting. See I stressed that one word in the only way I could.
