As a single man, I met a couple at a social the other day who asked me to verify them which I did. However, their profile preferences block single males so does that mean the verification would not be sent through to them?

Maybe. Sometimes they get through, sometimes they don't. If you can message or friend them you stand a better chance of it showing for them to accept.
