Heya there,
Just wondering if there is a reason that the inbox is the size it is (i.e. not very big...)
The messages are still there on the system, they just scroll off the bottom - why not have a "Next page"? Or am I missing something?
I haven't counted, but is it 100 messages is the limit, it's like a 1990's UX limit.
Single women profiles can get more than that in an hour, we've had 50 messages in a few hours.
Or is there something I am missing to make the inbox "proper" ?
Cheers

No, it's always been like that, you need to delete some to see older messages it's a pain.
How lovely would it be if where it says you've had a message in the past you could click on it and jump to the message. |

Well... I guess it's the feedback that perhaps site supporters at the very least get a better inbox.
It's not like the messages aren't there.
But it's a pain when drowning in messages, and also when you want to go back a conversation.

Would be better to have a page 1, page 2, page 3 option (and so on) on the inbox so you could click on it to go to older messages without having to delete the first page. |

I agree one hundred percent with you all on that! I am currently looking for a specific message - slightly older but not that old....and can't find it! How frustrating!
So......the only way to find it then, is to delete some newer ones? Even though, as someone has already said, I am a site supporter?
Even more frustrating!!! |

As site supporters we save any important or interesting messages and delete everything else when we've both read them. We are more interested in meeting in clubs and don't really do much messaging here v |

As long as you keep the most recent message in a thread, you can safely delete the older ones in the same thread. They are still there in the thread when you look at the newest one. It means you can have about 50 threads going at any one time. More than that my brain melts anyway. |

Well, like all these questions, the answer will be in how this web-site sets up and controls it's servers, they may feel that it's better to give space to pix, and who could blame them?
However, if you compare this site with say A-F-F the OP has a VERY valid point . . for use and control of messages that is . . . in all other respect why on earth would anybody want to use A-F-F? |

Never tried A-F-F ... But last time I looked some 10 plus years ago it was very pricey and American centric...
But anyway...
I can't guess what the site bandwidth is like, but this is a UI issue, not a data storage issue - as the messages are still there, just out of site...
*shrugs* not my site to code.
But it shouldn't be hard to implement and an attractive reason to be a supporter.
We do do the thread deletion trick to save messages, but indeed you make friends and pretty much have to take them offline to KIK or Whatsapp ASAP to make things practicable.
Hey ho!

I was on A-F-F before I joined here. When I joined A-F-F back in 2008 it had a good traditional mailbox system, with 50 emails on each page and a page 1, page 2, page 3 option at the top of the inbox you could click on to jump to older messages quickly and easily. Then around 2010 they changed it to only 10 emails per page and it was rubbish. Loads of complaints from members to change it back but they didn't listen. Not long after the site rapidly went downhill and there was a mass exodus of members. The site went into bankruptcy around 2011 or 2012. I didn't stick it for long, left and came here. My old profile is still there but I don't pay for membership anymore. Checked on there last week and they are still using the same naff 10 emails per page messaging system. Moral of the story, owners of the site should listen and take action on member feedback. It's the paying members who pay the bills. |
