Forum Mod

O o O oo

Below is a link to a thread that answers one part of your question. I have also higlighted on this post what Admin say on it.

http://www.fabswingers.com/forum/feedback/39760

We've chewed this over and really don't think it's helpful to provide a "full list" of forum mods. However, if we add a new forum mod, we will announce it on the forum.

HPC and Rugby are active. There are others but they're not active. We can forum mod but we pretty much leave it to the forum mods and don't get involved.

One of the reasons we don't want a "full list" is a) we honestly don't see that it will help and in fact may hinder because b) the way to report problem content on the forum is by the REPORT link in forum posts not by contacting mods direct. As discussed above if you think forum mods are out of line you should use CONTACT link at bottom of each page there's a way to give us feedback on mods.

Hope this helps

Is it not pretty bloody obvious what a forum mod does ??

They moderate the forums, i.e. keep order, delete/edit undesireable threads/posts, ban people and generally make sure that the forum rules are adhered to

You are realy asking the road that you already know I think ...

Why do I think that your question is leading to somthing else ?

Hmmmmmmmm ?

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

In my experience, mods ensure rules are enforced.

On here, I've seen posts and threads removed, and bans of various length given, alongside warnings and re-iterations of rules.

I hope this is of assistance while we wait for this question to be the most important thing on Admin's agenda.

How do we know if a mod is out of line if the poster dont know that its a mod replying in a thread.

Mods have thier own opions in threads but have the power to remove/close and ban. They should either be identified as a mod or say in the post wether its thier own opion or an opinion of a mod

Every profile has a link to REPORT. If you think anyone is out of line use that link, if that person turns out to be a mod then there you have it - you've reported a mod

But an opinion is just that - an opinion, so what difference does it make if that opinion is a mod based opinion or a forum user based opinion ?

For example,

I think this thread has a hidden agenda. That is my opinion as a forum user.

I think this thread has a hidden agenda. That is my opinion as a mod (which I'm not btw).

What difference would that make ? You'd probably still disagree with me ....

For the people who can't figure it out.....if a mod says something along the lines of " I love to have a spit roast and be banged good and hard when we play " that it is probably a personal opinion.

If they say something along the lines of " Can you keep your issues away from the forums" or "Thread closed" then you can probably safely assume that they are talking as a mod.

Its assumption that bothers me. You should never assume anything. I am now aware who the mods are but didnt in our previous exchanges i just read your comments as i would from any other poster nott knowing you were speaking as a mod. You dont seem to have a problem being knon as a mod so why not let everyone know so that you get the respect you deservive for all your hard work

Remembering that they do this voluntarily, they're not paid and it's done in their own spare time. If they act as mods, closing a thread etc, they always post to explain.

I agree with your first point. As for your second point you are wrong. A thread should only be closed if it breaks the site rules and that is the only explanation needed.

They DO only close threads if they break the rules. And they explain as a courtesy and to inform others who may not know the rules why it was closed.

I don't agree that a thread should only be closed if it breaks the site rules

I have sometimes closed threads and deleted threads at the request of the OP and for reasons that I think are valid

Forgotten about that one! And usually, from what I've seen, it's common sense stuff that might not be in the rules but is an obvious no no in a public forum.

Its called using your judgement and having some sense about what im doing,I can't tell you the reasons why I would close of delete a thread at the request of an OP as that is personal but if admin are happy with my reasons then ill carry on doing things the way I have until im told otherwise

Some rules are rigid, some are more fluid and some you just have to use your common sense about

Can I ask the OP three questions?

1. If you were the site owners, how would you run the forums?

2. If you were a forum mod, how would you mod the forums?

3. If you were a forum mod, how would you reply to a thread that interested you but had not broken any rules, nor showed any hint of doing so in the future?

S.
