Once you decide someone isn't compatible, you could block them. Then they won't appear in your searches. Some people also make a note on their profile first to remind them why.

If using the mobile version of the site if you open the profile at the top it tells you if/when you last messaged that person
You can also open up other options tabs like you would when you block someone to make a private note on the profile |
