There are two things that are really missing from the chat, which are found in most chat functions on other sites:
* Tab completion. i.e. if I type "g" and press tab, and there are no other users in the room whose name starts with a "g", it should complete it to "_olfcartweasel"
* Highlighting. If someone else types my name, it should highlight the line so I know I'm being talked about - it's super hard to keep track in a busy room. Combined with tab-complete, it's not much of a burden for users to use full usernames instead of abbreviating them, especially since they know highlighting makes it worth doing |

And while I'm having a moan, please turn off auto-scrolling when the chat backlog isn't scrolled all the way to the bottom - makes it impossible to read older messages if you look away for a few seconds |

I'm not convinced - this would only work if all users were willing to change to using whole user-names (although your suggestion of tab-complete would help those who were willing to).
I chat in Northern Room, and very many people use shortened names (e.g. Flirty for Flirty Stuff) or real names. This is much friendlier and can be used to show a kind of affection for the other chatter. I appreciate that in some other types of chatroom it might be appropriate to be more formal and use full names, but on a swingers site, I don't want to be formal. If this ever happens, I'd have to change my name!

It's largely to try & get highlighting to be meaningful. I just miss so many messages in the chat rooms (especially busy ones like Bisexual Chat), and scrolling just doesn't work since any new message auto-scrolls to the bottom, even if you were trying to scroll to the top |

we would lov to turn off the "auto-scrolls" ..even using the small cams to allow more chat space it passes to quick, and to be honest the yellow notice every 30 mins is a waste of space , no one reads it ..well in the bi chat anyway.. connie x  |
