This idea to help those who get loads of mails through.
At the moment all unread mail is highlighted yellow.
How about having an extra 2 colours, one for mail from those in your pals list and another for those mails from those in your hotlist (or maybe those you have previously winked at).
Then people can prioritise what they read and choose to delete the rest.
For instance, someone in chat could tell another user to mail them, they can add that profile to their hotlist and when the mail comes through it will be highlited another colour.

Its not a case of laziness......i have 800+ emails and if i spent the time ploughing through them then i would not have any time to play
I 'lose' alot of msg's from friends and replies because its always just a sea of 'yellow' |

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
"think you need to consider the tech involved sever space software etc and the associate cost"
I'm no expert, but the relevant flags are already in place within the site so that i see on someone's profile whether I've messaged them before, and whether we're friends.
Colouring the messages in my inbox based on the status of those flags would take about 3 lines of code.
I think the servers could handle that!

Yes, I to think this is a good idea.
From a technical perspective, I don't think it'd be difficult nor resource-intensive to do, especially as it'd only be called when a user is viewing their Read Messages page, so it's not all the time. You could quite easily calculate any performance hit doing such a look-up would incur, and the server logs would show how many times that page is accessed every minute. That would help identify if it's going to have a negative impact.
I think this would be a worthy addition for site supporters... it might help convince a few others (99.9% females, I'd imagine) to become a site supporter too!
*sigh* If only I had so many unread messages that I felt it necessary to filter them *sigh* |

Why not just go one step further and provide a personal servant who will check the mail and read it out aloud in the members preferred order of importance.
It'll save anyone having to put any effort whatsoever into their membership.
Oh the trauma of having to look down a list to see who's sent a message - it must be horrendous |

Ahhh... Your like us then... Only get one or two a week?
But I'm thinking of the lucky (or unlucky) people that get hundreds a week or even a day.... But that's just me, thinking of others and the bigger picture.
Following on from your thoughts, why not email microsoft and ask them to roll back windows to 3.0 or even better go back to DOS... Why have something to make peoples times on the interent easier when its more fun to let them struggle or get frustrated?

Well we get dozens, but it still doesn't present a problem quicky flicking through them then deleting 99% of them |
