TV/TS should be separate

Maybe there should be separate boxes for bi girls, straight girls, lesbian, gay, bi guys and straight guys!
Or maybe we are just capable at looking at the profile and making our own minds up x |

..There already are. You tick Male or Female. Then you tick Bi, Straight, Gay. This covers all the things you just said. It doesn't cover the difference between a person with breasts and hormones like a woman's, and a guy wearing a skirt.
It's simple. There are hundreds of TV/TS profiles, and computers are able to filter for what you want. You're suggesting people should trawl through hundreds of profiles to work out which is which. There should be no need to do that.
And why be sarcastic about this? It's replies like yours that make me lose hope with this site. |

I apologise for the sarcasm.
I only use the mobile version of this site and there is not that option to filter out bi/gay or straight unless you use the looking for function which I have before and ended up with not what I was looking for x |

On the mobile site there are certain filters (e.g. you want to meet a couple where both are bi; or you want to meet a woman who is interested in meeting women: basically, the combination of _who you want_ and _who they want_ will narrow it down accordingly).
None of this, however, helps with having TV/TS lumped together. There are over 300 profiles online currently. It would be very easy to fix this in the profile options, which is why I'm suggesting it. |

It doesn't help either that TV/TS is assumed to be male - female. |

Nice idea, but unworkable in practice. How do you decide if someone is TS or TV?
Do you rely on the profile holder? I know a lot of girlys on other sites who have ticked the TS box, because they truly feel they were born in the wrong body. Also, I know some who prefer to be classed as TS, even though they aren't.
When does TV become TS? are we talking full op? In which case they are now the alternate sex. Surgery? Hormones? Just started a course of hormones? Live as a woman? Dress as a woman 90% of the time?
Does the site decide? In which case extra work for admin, and do they need a certificate of proof, or do you take the word of the profile holder?
Also, TS doesn't automatically mean fit porn star, looks like a lass, but has a cock and is a total babe. A lot of girls I know who have transitioned look like your ordinary everyday lady. I add this, as I feel for a lot of people, this is why they want the split. As a search aid to find a sexy meet, rather than to form a bond with someone over a subject of deep interest to them.
Apologies to Wasp, as this has been quite male to female orientated.

There have been lots of discussions over the years upon this. I still prefer it Ike this, whilst fab seemingly wants any form of transgender separate to birth gender.
In other walks of life I'd just select female or male, rather than tolerate an intrusive question relating to former aspects of my life.
It's for each of us individually to define our gender and not others or an organization, its a legally protected characteristic.
If it were to be changed in fab, all current like users would need to modify their profiles, to make the new method valid and meaningful. That's a hell of a lot of effort and would never be completed in all likelihood.
Unless searching for hundreds of users, it usually doesn't take long to evaluate someone enough, in order to appreciate them as right for you or not. It would take me 5 mins or so to look at about ten. My general advice, not specific to this topic, is to prefer detailed written profiles, rather than near blank.
If someone is really wanting a very specific type of person, then they may be better off using a more specialist environment instead. As it is, fabguys caters to guys also seeking certain groups of people, so the sister site has options too.
I've been on fab for years and I think it works well enough as is, notwithstanding that changing this would be at the cost of other site improvements, and rely on all users in this category adjusting their settings, to have results.
It's better for users to read and digest profile information, as well as engage in meaningful conversations with others of potential interest. |

I still believe a small ftm section would be beneficial.
I experimented for a while as having my profile TS with an explanation that I was a female to male transperson and was looking to meet people on that basis. I'd say 99.8% of emails were from people saying how much they'd like to take me anally while they reach around and play with my cock, and how wonderful I'd look in suspenders and high heels.
The problem isn't so much with pre/post transition, but rather with the fact that a small minority of us simply have no category to tick at all - because we're not this site's idea of TS.
I'd love a more specialist site to go to, but unfortunately there isn't one. Since this is a rather nice site, I'd rather they just added another category for us ftm types to tick. |

I agree they are tow completely different things.
TS people often get lumped in with others. My understating is that TV/CD is about clothing preferences. Gay/Lesbian/Bi is about sexual preferences and TS is about being trapped in the wrong body.
Which is nothing to do with clothing or sexual preferences. |

"A transvestite is not at all the same thing as a transsexual. There should be 2 boxes, one for each. "
Cannot see it changing which is sad. Many folk are rallying for this option so FaB for f***sake just change it.... |

I agree with the original poster, and apologies if I missed it, it may be easier and almost a non issue if a simple split was made, Folks are either CD/TV or they're TG/TS
ie, crossdressers and transvestites, then separately transgender/transexual. Big difference and neither pairing would I believe, moan about being paired up that way |

Agree with this. That would be a far better option. Personally I would like to be able to differentiate between TVs and CDs too. That opens another can of worms though.

Apologies for the repost, but I've yet to hear how it would work. No one has answered the issues raised in my previous post:
