Stolen photos policy

We're asking mods to remove threads and content about “stolen” photo locations (by “stolen” we mean where someone has downloaded/screenshotted a photo from Fab and posted elsewhere). It's not OK to publicise “stolen” photos publically in any way, shape or form on here. So, posting locations of them, usernames to look for, searches/links to them, or publicly asking people to contact you privately for their locations are all NOT OK. It’s bad enough someone mis-uses photos, but it’s worse in our view to send lots of people to then go and gawp at them.

This applies for posting links/locations of nicked photos on the forum, on your profile, on status, etc.

Some idiots will always get a kick out of downloading photos and posting elsewhere. Driving more traffic to their idiocy only encourages them. We also want to stop people nicking photos, posting them, then posting that they’ve “found them”.

GET PHOTOS REMOVED FROM ELSEWHERE

If your photos have been mis-used most sites have what is called a DMCA takedown policy. This allows the copyright owner to demand they are removed. Google sitename + dmca and you'll get a page for removing content. e.g.

STOP THIS HAPPENING TO YOU

If you'd be upset if some idiot mis-uses your photos then common sense advice is NOT to add them here or anywhere online! Once someone can view a photo, there’s nothing to stop them saving it and mis-using it.

IF YOU POST PEOPLE’S PHOTOS ELSEWHERE

If you’re the kind of anti-social idiot who think it’s cool to download people’s photos and post elsewhere, be aware that people have been and are being prosecuted for doing this under harassment or “revenge porn” laws. The police can (and do) ask for assistance from sites for IP addresses etc. in order to trace people doing this. There is at least one case where someone has ended up in jail for mis-using photos related to Fab.

Any chance you could duplicate this in the lounge as I suspect more people would see it there?

Just a thought.

If you see someone's photos elsewhere and you know they would want them removed, I assume it's still ok to contact that person privately so they can take steps with the relevant site?

I agree with the policy, by the way, but I do think some of the threads recently have been a good reminder for people to think more carefully about what they're uploading.

Great post Admin - but can you put up the reverse search as well I (f) dont dare or might get banned from forums.

Did a reverse search 3 months ago and caught one out reported to the site and they removed and deleted that profile

But if hadn't done the reverse search would never have figured it out...

Thanks Naughty xxxxxxx

If you're going to post a pic on here and worry about where it may end up you're going to worry yourself into an early grave, any pic sexy enough will be copied, screensaved and sent to others, it's only the naive that believe anything else eg it's illegal to speed but does it stop everyone who drives a car breaking the law?

Whilst aware that you cannot stop people taking your photos should they so wish, it is useful to have info on how to have them removed from varying places should this happen.

Is similar to those people who are kicked from websites but rejoin from different IP addresses, and from false locations etc. Although you'd like to stop them, the worms carry on doing their thing.

I agree entirely. That's not the point the OPs making though.

The point is, if it happens to you there are ways to have your pictures taken down and removed.

It's a good point and well made.

It also happens to be something I didn't know.

Thanks OP, every days a school day.
