Just a thought
Many of users have commented, on various sections of the forum, about the same subjects coming up over and over again, and many tend to respond within threads suggesting that the OP had done a forum search. Particularly in the case of the Profile advice threads which seem to be taking up more and more forum space now.
As a suggestion, what do admin think about adding an extra line to the 'forum rules' - that little section that appears above the text box when you are making a new post - Suggesting that user search the forum before starting a new topic.
Or maybe have such a prompt pop up when a user creates a new thread, rather than for everyone posting to the forum.
I just remember seeing comments in the FAQ's about the Sydney University disclaimer that some users have on their profiles and that admin advice is that despite being meaningless, it takes up valuable server space. By a similar token, I can't help thinking that repetitive topics on the same subjects must be just as resource intensive and perhaps if, by advising users to search forums for an answer to their query before posting a new thread, we might help conserve a little server space.

You cannot always take constructive advice from other threads, especially about your profile. Although the general ideas will be there ie writing a bit about yourself; you cannot get advice of your own pics from someone else's thread unless you hijack it.
The same goes for a particular topic. The same topic may have been covered over and over again but, for people like me that does not get on the forum that much, it may be a new topic and I can sometimes add to it that I hadn't before. That and the fact, reading down over 100 comments to see the responses so I can answer is ruddy time consuming too. |

Advice about a profile is not generic so you can't really have one thread for it, plus if everyone added to just one it would auto shut after so many posts anyway. Asking for profile advice shares a section now, so it is easily avoided if it annoys, as is any thread really |

I have been on and off the forums long enough to get annoyed at repeat threads, but I don't as, if there is someone new posting, its always interesting. What does annoy me though are the rude people who say things like oh no, not again - I mean, has every thought they have ever had or word they have ever uttered been an original one? Its plain rude and an attempt to muscle newcomers away ... surely |

I feel my suggestion may have been misunderstood somewhat here.
I'm not suggesting a single thread for certain subjects, but simply something that perhaps prompts or encourages a user to do a quick search to see if their question may have already been covered before starting a new thread. |

To be fair, most subjects have been covered many many times since the forum got up and running. If every thread was bumped up people would probably complain about old threads turning up ( people have done before )
Now ok, if two threads are started within a few hours on the same thing in the same section then that's a bit silly so mods if they see them close the latest one off . (if they miss them report it and Admin will pick it up)
I am not sure it would be beneficial but that's just my view. |

I find allot of the threads become rude and very personal anyway. I know some of its just banter from you guys that are regular posters but I have been shocked how a simple post can quickly become a free for all bitch about something quite innocent. And they usually digress away from the subject header into nothing relevant at all. I know that's forums for you but it doesn't help the people that are seeking advice |

"How about a separate section for profile help, so all requests for help and "what am I doing wrong" type threads can go in there"
There is one...it is called "Introductions: New swingers, introductions and profile advice" |

Did you search before you put this up as I know in my years on here this has been asked on more than one occasion. |

It's difficult to search because people put random things as thread titles.
If it worked there would be less interesting threads. People would do searches on interesting discussion topics and not post new ones.
Then we'd be left with kiss fuck pass... and what do you have for your tea... |
