Why not have an icon that appears next to someones name when you have replied to them as many women get inundated with messages and just delete the fodder i think it could be useful.
When your browsing you can see people you have replied too This could be expanded to be a thumbs uo or down icon. Thumbs up meaning you replied in a positive way thumbs down means you werent interested bit not pur off enough to block.
Thoughts?

Thereis a freinds smiley, and you do get [replied] next to someone. Also, you can look at someones page and it will tell you when you replied to them last- makes me laugh when a guy you've never spoken to doesn't know this and pretends you have chatted previously. 
If i want to continue chatting with someone i either keep their last message to me if i don't know them that well or i will know who they are because we keep in touch regularly. If i delete any message it won't be by accident usually, i'll just be bored of talking to them or they didn't keep in touch much and i've replaced them. |
