Over the next few months we're working on improvements to meets/events.
We'll be rolling these out gradually.
First is the ability to "fab" meets/events. We want to be able to see, and let you see, which are popular events.
We also want to prioritise and give prominence to grassroots, free (or very low cost), events organised by members for members.
Next step is to use the Fab'd data to start to show what the popular events are.
We're also going to improve the display, the search and the location awareness of events. The massive "regions" that event locations are currently categorised under will be replaced.
As always, feedback welcome.

"Are the regions going to be replaced with cities ??"
This
or are they going to be more accurate? I'm not in the East Midlands or South East and it makes searching a little frustrating |

It would be good if you could register that you will be or may be going to an event. That way you can see who else might be going and even make contact before the event.
Other websites do this and it's really useful. |

Did you even read the thread? That's exactly what the announcement said will happen |

Couple of thoughts:
- Won't 'fab'bing events risk focussing all interest on just those, making it more difficult for the organisers to manage the event?
Would also like to see:
- Time of the evening (morning/afternoon/evening/all day etc). The text can still specify a more restricting time range if required
- Be able to EXCLUDE events where I can't attend (i.e. don't show me events where only females and couples can attend)
- On a similar vein - don't show me events where the list of people who can attend includes 'M' - BUT the profile says not looking for single guys! |

The postcode search would be good but as far fabbing events it will just be like the pictures, those with the most friends etc will be shown as the most popular so not sure it will be anything worth looking at. Just our opinion.

Also if I've understood this part right : "the ability to "fab" meets" aren't you aware that some users already canvas and practically bully for verifications after a meet or party as if the verification was the point of the meet in the first place? Some people play to the galley |

I think a good tool would be in the meets to have a button to click of you a single male . As you have to scroll down all meets to see which ones are looking for single makes to attend |

Will there be an option to filter by the who the meet poster is looking for? Having to go through the list looking for the few meets where single men are wanted can be a bit of a pain. |

Me too.
Would be happy to fulfil any criteria set by the site to qualify as an event organiser to get this ability for when I'm arranging socials. And also would be happy for it to be stringently monitored so admin know it's not being abused to spam other site members. |

Great to see the site constantly developing. I think my suggestions may have been mentioned above but if not, this is what I'd love to see....
- I'd love to just search for meets that are looking for single males
- People shouldnt be allowed to posts meets saying they are after single males only to find all males are blocked from messaging them.
-everyone wants location to be improved in some way. To say location is 'London' can mean a meet can be 2hrs+ away depending which side of town you're in.
- rough time of meet would be great - I'd rather message someone to say I can definately be there rather than saying I can be there depending on what time.
Look forward to see whatever changes are made. |

what I would like is where I could write an invite and just tick a list of names on my friends list to multisend, plus adding names not in my friends list that I think would be interested in going.
a previous social I co-hosted I copy/pasted and sent individually it was very time consuming
people dont always look at statuses and meet requests and some miss out

Mods in chatrooms are already here. If one isn't in the room report the person who is abusing others and Admin deal with it
this is feedback for the new event section though |

"What about the option of blocking homophobes?"
Why is choosing to block someone who's gay homophobic ? It's just a choice like blocking TV's, single guys/girls or couples. This sites all about choice so let's not jump on the PC wagon and enjoy our selves. |

If someone wants to test it out on us, feel free "
We were wondering that ourselves, so we put up a meet ( a genuine one). I, the ancient one of the couple, then went on to my singles profile and Fabbed said Meet. On checking back on our couples profile and the Meets section, we could not find any such notification that it had been Fabbed. Now this could be that I`m just so IT illiterate that I couldn`t find it or that as this is a work in progress, that facility is not yet up and running yet. Admin (or anyone else for that matter) - we would be grateful for any input. |

Sounds like some positive improvements, esp with the postcode search.
Another idea I would like considered is a search functionality of sizes. We have athletic, average, curvy, fabulous and many more but can't search for similar.
Solving the location issue is a good start but finding similar people should be the next step. |

Any chance on stricter rules about what constitutes athletic?

That will be absolutely brilliant cos I live in LA ( the postcode, not the American place) and it goes from LA1 to LA20 which covers a road distance of around 90 miles...I'm also close to a couple of CA postcodes so to be able to put CAn into a search and get somewhere nearby rather than Carlisle will be great |

You should try the wakes option. It's the whole of wales! Granted it's not massive but lumping it altogether helps no one. Let's face it, who from north wakes would take a 6/7 hour journey to South Wales and vice-versa? Not just for events but site wide. It has to be one of the most narrow minded area choices thought of. At least split it between north and South Wales, and perhaps make this a priority over all the other stuff? |

Not so sure how fabbing an event may be useful... you either attend or you do not! Besides an event is not like a picture as after the due date it will be removed!!!
Why not create a GUEST LIST where users can add their profile under that party so that everyone can clearly see which party is popular and who is going so as to increase the social side before, while and after that party? |

Hi Admin
I haven't read the thread. Too long to go through at the moment but from what I can see, this feature is a bit pointless for the most part.
Mainly because I can't see the report to show the value of fabbing something.
As long as there is visibility of the result then:
If there is going to be a "fab" top event. Yes I get that because it'll show an event generating interest.
A meet? Well if you are going to fab a meet, it's typically individual and you might as well contact the person directly, unless it's a quick notification to say "We're interested, drop us a line if we interest you" (like a wink, so to speak).
Maybe a "fab" for the best updates would be good and they get a rank. Like a tweet or a retweet (re-fab perhaps). After all some updates are very interesting and are worthy of getting airtime as information sharing. And some are just downright hilarious and fun to acknowledge a giggle.
Xx |
