Suggestion : Extend smoking option to include e-cigs/vaping as option.

Right now the profile settings are a simple check-box for smoker, and on the account settings a check box for will meet smokers.
Could this be extended (i.e. become a dropdown in each case), to be choice of non-smoker, vaper, smoker, and the 'will meet' similarly.
We've met some people who say they're not smokers but who do use e-cigs (which we're OK with, but we've met some other people who say they're not OK with).
I think it would be a reasonably easy change (including on the search functionality), and would allow people to be a bit clearer without having to explain it on their profile (or hide it altogether).

As the old saying goes there's no smoke with out fire . As there's NO smoke from a e/cig it's NOT smoking it's water vapour !! As am a non smoker and a non vapour I can't see how it would offend anyone . So would you meet a person with a nicotine patch on ?? |

Aleeady in place is ban in government buildings in uk this is just an extension.
As with smoking ao called normal cigs was about 30 years before it was known of damage this causes does anyone really want to wait so long again before risks to the user and those in immediate vicinity.
I do not and until proven safe and risks fully explained as to the chemicals involved whether vapour or smoke its airborne therefore treat as with normal cancer sticks until proof supplied by the industry.
If end of day its shown to be harmless then great but till then treat as the same. |

Largely what people do with their bodies, when not in my presence, is their choice. There is harmful pollution around us all the time and the UK is failing to meet its targets. As these products are made by various manufacturers, they will have varied ingredients and there will likely never be a time when all of them will be declared safe. Especially as ingredients in anything we consume can change.
Are we going to have listings for peoples' diets, to know what food they've consumed before hand?
I can think of lots of things to change in fab before I'd implement this one, especially as I think it could easily be largely meaningless, as we'll not be armed with the specific product details, to make fully informed decisions, imo. Just adding my opinion, as others are looking for different and varied things. |
