This is really directed at site admin but maybe other could lend their support if they think it is a good idea?
From time to time the site seems to go offline for various reasons. i'm sure these are technical reasons well outside the admins control and the fault lies with the Server Providers.
However to make up for these glitches, admin generally will credit the accounts of site supporters with an extra few hours membership for free. I know this because I am an on again/off again subscriber (currently off). Whilst the supporters get something the other member of the site don't get anything which I'm not saying is unfair as they aren't contributing to start with (well not contributing monetarily - they are providing content etc)
It got me thinking tonight tho that a lot of people have never actually support the site and don't want to spend £5/10 as they don't see what the benefits would be. Would it not be a great promotional tool (and a fab xmas present) if the admin could give everyone a free pass for silver level membership for a period of time to celebrate xmas?
It would only be for a short period of time (1 day? 1 week?) but I think once people see what the benefits are of making that small £5 payment the Gold and Silver level members could increase by A LOT! Certinley enough to cover any cost of the promotion...
Just my thoughts.. Anyone else want to add anything to it???? |

when you originally joined didn't you use to get a 24/48hr trial of gold or silver membership (mind escapes me)
anyway... i don't see why if you can't be bothered to support a site which you are then getting for free why you should get anything else if it goes offline...
at least with site membership if it goes off its times that would have come off that and to re-imburse that seems fair.... |

Not to my memory you didn't, but then that was 5 years ago, so don't quote me!
But to the OP if people are interested enough, I'm sure spending £5 is not a big ask for them to spend to find out.
Some people can not even be bothered to have a profile and rely on the default one that fab gives them...so why should fab give them the benefit of the full site? Just my musings |

i'm pretty sure you don't get a free pass when you sign up.. Not unless this has changed since I've signed up..
Fabio.. I am in agreement with what you said and my orig post said that i thought not giving anything to the non supporters was fine... Not sure what you are disagreeing with me for?
I just thought that using something like a free 1 day pass could be a good way to encourage more people to take advantage of the great and cheap £5 deals.. Call it a little bit of marketing? advertising? good will? whatever you fancy.. the objective is to increase supporters of the site, which will increase revenue/profits and generate a better experience for all..
Maybe the lack of promotion is one of the reasons why non supporters don't spend the £5?? |

hmm, got me thinking, but when you compare this site with many others, most do not give you a free chatroom , abillity to send and receive messages. ok you have to wait for the forum but its still free..merry christmas . connie xx |

"hotwife...
Nay free period would of course be added on to any paid for period.. you would'nt lose out"
at around 8p per day for silver, don't really care if it was added on or not, don't even care if its a non starter.
we will just pay our £5 for 60 days silver, not breaking the bank really is it ?? |

I am a site supporter from time to time.. mine has just run out about a week ago..
my idea was to try and encourage other people who have never supported to do so..
A free sample if you like |

Maybe it should be the other way round. One month free trial period and then your profile is deleted if you do not become a paid up member . It is difficult to see what paid up supporters gain by allowing free supporters. The annual membership fee is excellent value anyway. |

patdrive your idea def has merit and it would probably vastly cut down on the number of timewasters on the site.
However hundreds if not thousands of active free members would also be lost. Also, what would stop you just registering a new 'free' account every month? |
