there are quite a number of people feed up of the "fancy a fuck", " hi, how are you? " type messages. in order to stop these could you add a filter to block messages with less than a certain number of characters. it would be up to the use to select this option. it should be a quite simple, if option set and string length less than 100 then block message. It should cut a lot of those messages out

I wouldn't want to use that function. If I've been chatting to someone for a while and finalising details for a meet, a few short words is all that's needed, I'm on my way, Caught in traffic, I'll be 20 minutes late, I'm here.

You can usually see that they're just Fancy a fuck messages before opening them so just delete.

Sorry should have said, its only for first contact messages, if we had previously messaged each other then it wouldnt be filtered

Its a good idea, but for something that's so easy for us to manage ourselves it might not be top of their list to do. As said above, its easy to see in your inbox that they are short, so just delete without opening.

It's a good idea in principle but someone will always find a way around it. Sometimes you need to be ruthless and when you do get messages like that throw them with the other dross on the block list.

Sounds harsh but isn't that what the block list tool is for.

Why not go further and have a specific word filter too.
