Solution to time wasters?
Jump to: Newest in thread
After having my fair share of time wasters, I've got a suggestion. It borrows from a few suggestions from previous members and adds a few ideas of my own.
-When two people/couples decide to meet, one of them sends a "meet request". When the other accepts it, It's a sort of proof of a mutual meet.
-Once the date of a meet passes, You can get to a page that gives one click feedback with lets say two options, "no problems" and "didn't show".
-"no problems" is an option that would work if the user showed or they gave notice to the other user of a cancellation.
-If someone is given a "didn't show" feedback, they get flagged.
-2 or 3 flags and their IP address gets banned for two months(or whatever time period) after which they can log in again. Everyone deserves a second, even third chance but 3 bans and they're banned for life.
This system wouldn't obviously filter out all the time wasters but I think it would help significantly reduce the worst kind. The type that agrees to meets and doesn't show without prior warning.
Also the work the admins have to do is significantly reduced in this area because the banning is done in code and the paper trail (proof of mutual meets) is there ready to view for admins.
Doesn't have to be exactly like I described but you get the general idea.
What do admins and other members think? |

What do admins and other members think?" . Not sure what a time waster is ?. This system could be open to abuse . Some people on fab have an obsession with time wasters , whatever the definition of one is . I just concentrate on meets and never have any problems , but then my expectations are realistic. |

Blocking I.p. addresses don't work it's easy to get a new one and set up another account.
Fab has many tools already to help avoid time wasters and there is a report option for no shows. The real problem is people not using the existing features that are there to help out the real from the fake.
In over 4 year on my joint profile we have never experienced a time waster yet others seem to attract them. |

In about 7 years I've encountered one time-waster (a couple as it happens) and I allowed my guard to slip on that occasion.
You just need to vet better methinks and allow your brain to rule your cock while you vet. |

The problem with an IP address is that some people will mask their true IP address by using TOR servers, i've had problems from one person on another site that has been on going for many many months now and the Police are still seemingly no closer to finding out their true IP address, when they do find this person they will be going to jail for what they've done, but you see the problem is a TOR server will very efficiently hide the true ID address and give a false address instead.
the next problem you could have is there is nothing to stop a person meeting but still giving a 'no-show' rating because they didn't get to have sex for whatever reason, i'd like to think anyone who meets would always use the 'no problems' option, but in reality we all know it won't happen like that because some people out there are just not as honest and trustworthy as the vast majority. |

Get ppl to update their verification photo with a pass word say every 6 months would get ride of a lot of fake cpls
There are a lot of cpls who are not playing any more as a Cpl but the male is still using the profile |

so what if I meet you but don't like you or you piss me off so I flag the 'didn't show' option cos i'm a vindictive bitch?
also, does this mean we have to book in our meets on here like some sort of shag job sheet with ticket numbers and customer satisfaction surveys? |

Ticket numbers work for deli counters and job sheets work for the gas board so why not??? |

We have encountered quite a few time wasters, not always single guys either but couples and single women too, so we've found the solution is to go to a club to meet. That way if someone doesn't turn up, or you don't fancy them in the flesh or whatever, it doesn't really matter. There are plenty of others already there to play with. We have limited opportunities to meet due to conflicting shift patterns, so this works perfectly for us. |

Errr....no.
It'd feel like going to work eh....its far to convoluted and I don't want to start booking time with friends.
A radicle yet simple solution may be a thing I like to call a 'selection process'
I have a prototype one and it seems to work just fine... |

I think more should be done to stop time wasters. Our last 3 meets last month all turned out to be Timewasters. Since we have joined fab I wokldnt like to say how many we have had x |

Its cliché I know nut you need to look at your selection process then. In 5 years I can count on one hand the number of time wasters and no shoes I've had. |

"Photo verification should be mandatory"
Then an awful lot of people including ourselves would leave or not join...The site knows that and it will never happen
The site provides a platform for people who are interested in this lifestyle to get in touch with each other and an awful lot of tools to make it easy to arrange to meet...as far as we're concerned that's where their responsibility ends...The rest is up to us and frankly, once it gets to that point, it's got feck all to do with them what we do with who...
If we had to book our meets in through some kind of administration system, it would be far too intrusive...it's none of anyone's business who we meet... |

You know nothing about Tor. Nobody would use the Tor network to go on this site, its too bloody slow to start with. A simple VPN or IP mask software (hidemyass for instance) would be the best way to mask your IP. Even then, if the admins blocked that IP, you could just turn your router of for 5 mins and turn it back on, voilà! New IP. Shit outta luck if the IP the admins blacklisted went to another site user (unlikely but possible). IP addresses change all the time, so it's pointless the admins chasing down IP address, unless theres some sort of criminal activity. Then they or the police can say " 51.116.2.754 was a location XXX, the time XXX and date XXX. |

"No shows lol"
The no shoes was better I agree though, I've been on and off here for about four years and never had a no show. Had two last minute cancellations but as I'd not left the house it made no difference. |

Judging by what has been said here some are destined to continually repeat their mistakes.
Fab has loads of features to work out who is genuine for you and there is a lot of common sense that needs to be exercised.
What worries me is people seem to not to want to have control of their own experience here, but would rather be matched with people that are genuine for them. Many experienced users have certain criterias that a potential meet must pass before a meet is arranged, if I criteria isn't met they simply move on. The person they reject may well have been genuine.
Both this profile and my current couples one have 4years here without a time waster and I have another 4 years before that without a timewaster here.
Those that have problems need to learn from their mistakes and report the time wasters rather than constantly looking to blame someone else. How can we call ourselves responsible adults when we don't take responsibility for our own mistakes. |

The site has many useful tools.
Add in common sense, a lack of urgency/expectation and a sense of realism - and things tend to go smoothly.
Reliance on automated systems will never work.

It does appear that instead of using common sense, erring on the cynical side of decisions, and having low expectations to filter out the idiots, what some people seem to want is a final solution to the timewasters question. In the 3rd Reich sense of the phrase! |
