Its against the rules for someone to badmouth on the forums and if anyone does they receive a forum timeout .
Does anyone agree that if anyone badmouths another member through their status updates they should be given a timeout from using the site if they do ?
I think they should because at the moment im unaware of any punishment for doing this . |

Did you report the profile? No action can be taken if admin don't know. |

I think its a difficult one because if you have a forum or a chat ban you're still able to use the site
What do you think would be a good punishment other than a warning? |

I suppose if what you are asking is people get suspended from using the site if they break rules then all people who break rules , be that forum / chat / mail/ status should all be suspended from the site.
It might be quieter than normal on here if that happens |

I saw what you said and why I answered as I did. It is only fair if you think people should be banned from the site for rule breaking then the people with other warnings plus forum and chat bans should be banned also
I doubt if it will make some people think about their actions as it doesn't stop people getting multiple bans as it is |

And i do think if they were banned from using the whole site it might work you never know .
Its just a suggestion and could maybe make a big difference . |

Mods don't get to choose a length of a ban only Admin do....but you are in the right place for your suggestion.
From a personal point of view, I think everyone should have a chance before chucking anyone off.
It could have the same effect as you are after and they won't try and start a new profile while suspended.

PS Don't forget Admin already use a mixture of suspend/partially suspend or ban from certain sections.
Here is what they say.
******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).
Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

Anyone reporting should however be careful - there's a chance (improbably, but still possible) that the reporter is the one on the receiving end of a punishment. Just saying. |
