Had a meet last week with a fairly new user (who had returned to fab, having been here before)
Meet went well and we sent each other verifications, however, I have noticed today that user has disappeared from my friends list (no problem there) but my verification from her has also disappeared, suggesting that user is no longer on site.
I can guess why perhaps this user has left the site (she got a little clingy - which I find a big turn off).
The thing is, this had been my first veri in a while (not all users leave them) and it was a rather good one.
I'm wondering if it might be worth site admin considering making changes to the verification system so that once a verification is left, it remains indefinitely.
Just a thought. |

I agree with OP..it has always felt odd to me that forum posts remain but become "no longer a user", but verifications are removed entirely.
It's always been the case though, so I suspect I'm missing an obvious reason! |

Admin say verifications given are owned by the person(s) giving the verification. Thus when the person(s) deletes their profile they also delete any verifications given. |

They do have a form of solution in the 'verification summary' function yes you loose the verification itself but if you choose to show the summary it does say how recent your last verification was |

So why not give you the option to edit or remove them if you are the poster own them? Slightly conflicting feedback there form admin on that one. |

The forum is a public place so effectively when it is public it doesn't really belong to you anymore so remains in the public domain.
A verification is specific to a person and the person that posted it, and also isn't necessarily made public so I think their comment makes sense that the verification will be deleted as that profile no longer exists. But as someone mentioned there is the verification summary. |

If verifications are owned by the person giving it I think it would be a good idea for the giver to be able to see on their account the verifications they have left for people. I've left a number if verifications for people who do not show them. I'd just like to be able to see what I wrote about the person that's all |

A verification showing from someone UNLOS would be as much use as a chocolate fireguard!
It's like the profiles you see that actually type some of their (alleged!!) old veri's into their profile text! Are the real? Did the people who left them really exist? Or is it just BS that the profile owner thinks will boost their chances of a meet ? It would be easy to produce endless veri's from multiple profile and then delete those profiles before anyone caught on!
And if the majority of someone's veri's were from UNLOS profiles? I'd worry we had a serial killer in our midst - and avoid them like the plague!

They keep the verification tick and it still counts on the verification summary, so not a massive deterrent. |

Over half of the people who've verified me have since gone UNLOS (I'm starting to think it's something I said...) which is one of the reasons I just choose to show the summary instead so people can see how recent they were. Always find the profiles where people have cut and paste the text of their old verifications into their profile a bit suspicious and pathetic! |
