I was just wondering as you havemembers post codes why not put the distance people are from each other so people would know how far they are to travel for a meet just a thought ?? |

ooo i like that idea but doesnt one put the post code in and choose how many miles or are you talking in general?
Ah read it again, i use RAC Route planner and it tells me how many miles and how long to get there though with me i usually double it i even get lost with sat nav |

It is a good idea however i am now coming to terms with the fact that nearly all the people that message or wink us are a rediculous distance from us lol Oh well we plod on in hope! |

Unless they use the same sort of system as AA or RAC most other systems use as the crow flies technology which is useless, have you ever tried to use the one on ebay for example, is laughable. |

AutoTrader online is the same - according to it, Durham is 11 miles from me - it's actually 30 odd miles |

That happens to me as well. You log on and see a wink only to find they are 300 miles away |

is that as the crow flies or by road?"
if your driving wrecklessly trashing fields and houses, whats the difference
but to anser your question - by road. reading that back i don't even believe i'm even answering that...

Google maps put your start point in and your destination and it will work the rout out for you tell you how many miles and how long it should take you at normal road speed

On another site we use that works out distace from say ours to say someone who has conatcted us in Liverpool the distance isnt accurate,but its good for seeing if they are too far away though gives us an idea how far away they are.
