I know that there are a few emotive subjects and topics that come up from time to time... and yes I absolutely acknowledge that they do get heated and the decision to lock them is the right one at that time.....
I know it is bad form normally to restart a locked thread unless it gets way too long...
I know that there have been times where I have thought "dang.. I wish I had had the chance to contribute to that thread"
so what I am asking is that is there anyway to unlock threads after a couple of hours "cooling off" period and a warning that if it continues that it is locked/removed permanently... some potentially interesting topics have been curtailed
The last thing I want this not to look like is that I am knocking the mods at all... they do a bloody good job and I can understand why they lock them at certain points... |

Admin I am sure can unlock threads if they wish to.....but when a thread gets locked it is normally after a few warnings or two many posts having to be removed.....so I am not sure what you are suggesting would work anyway. |

Nice idea Fabio and with you on the great job done by the Mods with dealing with the forums!
We dont often contribute to the forums but there have been times particularly with emotive subjects I have gone away to think about a reply and not give a knee jerk reaction to find when I have come back with a response the thread has been locked.
A cooling off period we think would be a great addition. |

The right of reply usually means the thread just goes on and on and if im wathing and waiting for it to go really bad im just wasting perving time
It is frustrating when you can't respond but how long do we have to wait? if it needs locking then it needs locking |

Feckin mods and their twitchy fingers, they must have nothing better to do.
Seriously though, elsewhere I have been a chat mod, a forum mod and an admin.
I'm with Fabio that I've seen threads I've been too late to add to, and would have liked to contribute with a non abusive post, however, as usual it's the minority that spoils it for the majority, we can all get mad but a little thought goes a long way.
Besides, I may be wrong but the mods here may have more to do with their time than sit and baby sit a thread that's been re-opened.
Shame though. |
