Do not have permission to read this thread - wtf?

It doesn't happen much, just twice ive seen now but its mystifying why it does, but can someone tell me why a thread is inaccessible sometimes with the line 'You do not have permission to view this thread'?

Hmmmm. You got me thinking now. Maybe it is. I think they should reword it if it is just that. After all, posts in threads say deleted/removed by user.

Moderators, can you clarify this please.

I was beginning to think I was slowly being banned or there was a secret forum I'd stumbled across
