Its a nice feature, the ability to 'fab' peoples photos. But what about comments?

I know l speak for the genuine guys on here when l say its something of a stab in the dark when you message a lady/guy on here, but if it was possible to comment on a photo there might be a more personal connection and encourage people to put at least one public photo up, even if its not a face pic or anything personal.

I thought about this because other, more fetish based sites have this and people are more likely to respond that way.

Thanks

Freddy.

You want/need feedback post the pic on Facebook or a porn site. Leave this one as it is thanks.

You could always have the option to have the feature or not. Thats a very negative response really.

It comes up a lot.

Who's going to moderate the comments?

Who's going to penalise the trolls?

This is a free site; with volunteer mods.

Its not negative its practical.

Yes its all lovely until the trolls use it to be abusive about peoples pics, hopefully if it becomes a feature it'll have an opt out button

Have the feature with an opt out button seems sensible, you can always block the trolls anyway x

Couldn't give a monkeys about comments on pics I think you can do that on xhamster

Why do that? It could be left wide open to abuse, " just because your not someone's type"

Dont see this as a bad thing providing the user has control over whether to show / delete the comments.

Plus if someone leaves a negative / abusive comment it can be reported / removed by admin and appropriate action taken.

Bit like the forums really

As long as it's an opt-in feature AND it defaults to opted-out, I don't see a problem. Otherwise it's wide open to abuse!

For those that want to comment on a pic, send the user a message saying "I like the pic with the red hat and pink carnation". If you can't send them a message because of their filters, they probably don't want you commenting on their pictures!

Could work, but should only be friends only who can comment.

Why is it always a stab in the dark when fabbing or messaging? Could it be because people fab or message people without reading profiles, checking that they fit the looking for criteria on the profile?

Can see this being used as a way to get around filters and blocks. As people have said, how will it be policed, who's to stop people leaving abusive comments etc

It will take up more server space, and let's face it, there are more practical things that need doing and fixing as a priority:-

- searching by bi individuals so you can find couples with bi females, (or bi males if that's your thing) rather than just being able to search for both bi couples only.

-Sorting the regions into a more practical demographic.

-Finish the ethnicity search so it can search by sex, and covers all ethnicities. As well as a way to search couples so it brings up only couples who are of one ethnicity instead of a mix as it does now.

This sort of feature will also encourage more none swingers on to the site. The ones who just like the attention given to pics and have no intention of meeting anyone.

This site is meant to be run "by genuine swingers for swingers" yet it's becoming more like a porn picture site. The hottest pictures section, the picture gallery section, all features that encourage picture collectors, porn wannabes, attention seekers and wankers.

If this site really is about swingers then profiles should really be restricted to having a few pictures, couples profiles should have pictures of both men and women on there. Pictures that can be used purely to help see if people are your type and are what they say they are, in order to arrange meets and swing!

Let's say someone comments on your pic and it's abusive or says "I know you, your Sally and your kids go to x school", the comments are instantly put on profile but you are not online for a few days, the comment stays up and is there for all to see until you log in and report it. Then when you do report it, as happens now, because the mids are volunteers it takes them a few days to get round to removing it.

Bet it's not such a great idea now...

Absolutely agree with this...we don't put our pictures on for comment, purely to show who we are and that we play and that's how we use others...this isn't designed to be a picture sharing site...if people want or need that kind if feedback, there are sites that cater for that...

I had this on another site and it was nice but it should have a choice to put this on the profile and they may not always be nice comments.

If we do have something like this...then an opt in opt out feature would be good (default opt out) but also have the comments like we have with verifications where people have to option to display the message that goes with the pic before it is put out for everyone to see but also give the pic owner the power to delete the message too. At least admin wouldn't have to patrol it and it would be left up to the individual who owns the pic to decide what to do with each message.

That would seem to be the best solution, allowing users to report abusive comments for Admin to deal with.

I keep seeing the words 'abuse' and 'trolling' in this post, but really that just shows people up as fools if they do that. Its like natural selection ha. l like it when berks come with a warning light.

If its not been mentioned already and l missed it, there could be the option to vet comments for review, in the same way verification are. You get the choice to make it public or not.

Most people on here though, generally speaking are civil. ok some are a bit dense sometimes but that's like anywhere.

l think its a nice idea, if it can be effectively managed to avoid abuse.

''phwooar nice bum'' comments would wind me up, unless they understood the concept of irony.

Some really interesting replies there.

So it really seems to hinge around the idea that it could be open to abuse, and yes l am sure the admin and programmers of this site have enough to do already.

It was just something l thought of because l was using fetlife and the ability to comment on photos there encourages people to make effort with photos as well as making the flirtation aspect more fun. l can see why people are worried though.

BTW Sarah. anyone called sarah-slut should be careful what they wish for

So long as this is an opt in/out feature...I don't really want loads of pandering comments with backhanded compliments nor abuse, which as a fat bird can be pretty much guaranteed

"I like this idea and as already said would be easy to report abusive comments "

But I don't want to receive abusive comments of my pics that I then have to report...it's bad enough getting them in private messages never mind out in public for other people to see.

And yes it can show how childish someone is if they were to post such comments, but it doesn't stop people in the forums, on status updates or in profiles so why would it be any different on pics?

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

well as far as abuse goes its up to people to watch out for that and rally around to report those people.

Its upto Admin what features they use but l wouldn't let the trolls win and live in fear of them. They just deserve contempt and if there was something abusive one of my photos you can bet id flatten them with words.

When iv seen this on the other websites mentioned its usually because they are attention seeking anyway. l fail to see how anyone could take real offence.

But when that happens the friends of the person come down like a ton of bricks.

On xhamster it's self-policing. The profile owner can delete any and all posts, block idiots and report abuse getting the perp banned.

Other members can post either on a wall similar to Facebook on the profile home page or against individual pics.

The nice thing about that is people can see directly how you converse and you get more opportunity then to show your character.

The negative side is you do a lot of deleting of posts and those who use Fab as a narcissistic ego trip (we know who they are, lol) will be begging to get comments as well as Fabs, thus making it even harder for their heads to fit through doors.

Never personally had a pic comment that offended me and my profile on there is a solo female one.

This is a swinging site! You know, a site for people to meet other people to swing. To chat and converse to other people. Pictures are there to show what you look like in order to see if the other people are your type.

This isn't facebook or a porn site, the more picture an video functionality the site has, the more people that will use it just for free porn. More time wasters and picture hunters.

Let's focus on functions that improve the site to do what it was intended for.

From a personal perspective (and I don't use Facebook) being able to communicate directly through a section on your homepage improved conversation hugely, as did being able to reply to comments. There is a lot more direct banter, not less.

Taking functionality from a different type of site does not mean it will become that kind of site.

I met my fb through xhamster (and others) so it definitely worked for me wheras Fab is a little bit clunky in comparison.

The only way this would work is if the photo comments came through like messeges and you can choose to display or not display individual comments so you can moderate you own comments and report any abusive comments and any abusive people should have there profile deleted

I don't log in daily. So having read this i actually went and removed all the public pics on my profile.

It was suggested that allowing comments would make people want to upload more pics.

Actually had the very opposite on me. But then im not a sheep

Actually if you think about it this site really is already just a mixture of Facebook and porn.

I think having used various sites and knowing how they work (rather than leaping to conclusions) I feel some of the concerns raised are borderline hysteria.

It's simply an extra layer of communicating and there are positives and negatives on all sites.
