Just had an abusive member in the Scotland room, who a mod dealt with quickly etc. I can't help but think that if people had to be a member for a certain length of time, say 7 days, before they can join the chat, then this might help these kind of problems.
Just a suggestion

The mods do a great job and are on the ball when it comes down to abuse in chatrooms.
I think that if people had to be members for 7 days before being allowed in the chatrooms you are still going to get the idiots that go in after the 7 day period,so i dont think that would work. |

I agree, it wouldn't matter how long you were a member if you want to give abuse...but, I do think chat should be the same as the forums, were you can't chat for a few days after you have registered. |

To be fair...out of all the people that come in the rooms and dont follow the ettiquete (im sure ive no spelt that right!) most will listen to advice from room regulars and change their ways... it is a minority that come and disrupt things.
And even when there aint a mod in the room, like any bully... they soon go away if they dont get a reaction, just block them. But, yes, its human nature to step in and retaliate or to at least try and advise them.

At least if they had to be members for 7 days before they could enter chat, it would help to prevent the banned members from starting a new profile and immediately going back into chat 5 minutes after they were banned on a previous profile.
Granted it wouldn't stop those with multiple profiles from switching to a different name, but we can soon spot those folks unless they are very clever which, generally, they aren't |

You will always get people who are abusive. You can have rules like people need to be a member for a certain period of time or need to be verified first. But the truth of it is, you will always have rude people.
Saying that, sometimes arguements start for no reason, or someone misreads what someone writes.
The only thing you can really do is report the person or simply ignore them.
Besides life is too short, dont let these people affect you. |
