Hi

have recently had a situation where a guy i had verified after meeting him turned into a complete prick but sadly i could not remove the verification i had left so now people are going to think he is a nice guy when in fact he is a prick!!

i think there should be some way of removing verifications you have left for people

It might not be the best solution but if you deleted your account the feedback on his profile would vanish.

Or if you are feeling mischievous put more feedback on saying that he turned into a prick

He has the option to show on his profile or not, which option do you think he might use?

I really DON'T agree with this.

If someone writes a verification hopefully they wrote the truth.

Who is to say that the verified and not the verifier change behaviour for the worse?

Let's take my case for e.g. If someone has verified me as a wonderful shining star too good to miss and then decides to take the fact that they KNOW I am real and genuine away - Where does that leave me ? With no verification.

It's a VERY wrong decision.

Analogy: You win a football game and get a cup or cert. Can someone in the future say you lost that game ?

Analogy 2. You are rewarded at work with a bonus. The next week you don't work as hard. Should they take LAST WEEKS bonus away? NO!

It is totally wrong. ....

I mean we will soon see threads having rants about their verifications being taken away for no good reason.

I too do not think this a good idea, it will be seriously open to abuse.

Verify someone and when they say they don't want to meet again, take the verification away, I believe people will try to use the system of taking them away as a weapon.

I do believe under certain circumstances there should be a way to remove verifications, but maybe rather like the way people can be banned, by a mods decision, and not in the hands of the verifier.

but if that is gonna be available _j_mark surely it can be open to mis-use, say someone has a row with someone they can just get rid of their verification, I am sorry but if i give a verification out it should stay i would not want to remove it, it will be open to misuse thats wot i think

Yup, one argument between to people, then one goes around making up tales to tie others that have verified their target, easy enough done if they all met at a party for instance.

Suddenly most verifications have gone and people assume the worst of the one with lost verifications.

Personally I think it's a bad idea.

The verification should reflect the behaviour of the person at the time you met.

Whatever they do afterwards, even if they do turn into prick, can hardly change the way they were when you met them, so why delete or change the verification ?

For those who really feel strongly about a verification that they've left, maybe the answer would be to provide a facility which would allow a member to add the feedback - a bit like you can on Ebay. The original feedback stays put, but you can tag a little bit extra onto the next line.

To have the facility to simply delete verifications ad hoc is not a wise idea and open to misuse / abuse

Sorry

My view is that we SHOULD be able to remove verifications that we've left for others. Case in point, a 'single' guy, who I had chatted to/phoned/social meet etc for quite a lot of weeks. Then it turned out he was 'married but cheating'.

Obviously, he was a good liar, so I would've like to remove my verification of him, to prevent other people (who - like me - object to 'married-but-cheating') from being taken in by the same lies.

Fortunately, when I emailed the site, they were happy to remove my name from the verification, without me having to delete my profile (which would have been inconvenient to me).

In total agreement, whatever we have said in our verification at that time should stand. I also think it could be open to petty minded abuse.

I'd also like to have verifications to remain after the person has left the site.

Add me to the list of people who think this is a bad idea...... as the others have said it is open to abuse and potentially be used as a weapon in rows and disputes

isn't the whole point of verification in the first place only to say that the person is genuine.... they still happen to be genuine if they are an arse, or if you happen to fall out with them.....

I only verify people I would be happy to say "yes I would be happy to associated with".... and not every person I happen to come across....

if you are not 110% happy to be linked with the person, then don't write one....

I think if people really want to remove verifacations then they should leave it up to admin to decide, maybe hear both sides before removing verifacations.

We totally agree with _abio,we will only verify people who we have met,are genuine and we have enjoyed their company. So why would we want to remove a genuine verification based on a meet we have had? We would'nt.

i personally never understand the verifications of verified genuine by webcam or phone...how the hell can you verify someone on that basis when youve never met them!!...seems odd to me(us)..we would never verify anyone until wed actually met them...just our opinion lol

Same here don't like cam and phone verifications, while we understand that at least you can see they are a couple or a female and not just a single male.

We don't like the idea all these are placed together as verified, there should be an option on the search to show verification by 'meeting in person' only, then at least wouldn't after trawl through the results.

Finally don't like the idea of a remove verification, like most have said open to abuse, but also see the problem of using admin to remove the verification, who made them judge and jury!!!

As mentioned here, if there is a valid reason, then there is a way to get verifications removed already, without going down the route of people able to do so themselves.

We no longer remove verifications manually so this isn't true anymore.

Or just block him.....your verification disappears...stays as a count in summary but same if you deleted.
