Does anyone know if the idea of not being able to read forum messages from people on your blocked list, is proceeding? Don't see anything about it and always seemed a bit daft when all the messages can be read without logging on. |

didn't know they were considering it... but if they are then it sounds like a really bad idea.....
so if someone has blocked single guys... does that mean they would only seen the stuff written by couples and women???
so if someone happens to be blocked, do there opinions not mean as much in a conversation?
it would ruin the flow of most threads... would people see what the next person has written if they had quoted the person who was blocked???
if this were to happen it would be a step too far for me.....

"If it is added as an option on the site.......it won't be compulsory for anyone to use, just like any other blocks are not compulsory,so those who don't want to use it, don't have to
"
Good ! If ive blocked someone I still want to know what's going on ... why block their posts.. silly idea. |

"But if you've blocked them and can't see their posts, how will you know they've posted to unblock them lol"
I was thinking that it would be a different list to your normal block list
A separate forum block list that was optional if you wanted to use it?
But I know nothing and am just speculating on how its going to work |

I don't know how it is going to work if they bring it in.....all I know is, if they do it like all other blocks, I am guessing you will have a choice of wether you block or unblock |

It was listed as an improvement for 2010 but it seems a bit daft without modifications, as unlogged-on visitors can have free access to all the messages on the forum. Just wondered if it was still a current idea. Thanks for replies. |

But if you aren't logged in, the name of the poster isn't displayed in full and you can't view any profiles either.
But that aside, I think the forum block option wasn't one of the better ideas that I have heard of late |

If you're a forum regular its easy to see how has posted when you're not logged in,they only take the first letter of the profile away
Maybe the whole profile name should be blocked out |

Yeah that would be a much better idea, I dare say, if the 1st letter could be blanked out, there must be no reason why the rest of them couldn't.

Personally I cant the see the benifit of blocking users forum posts from view.
Ok, we all have or had people on block at some point, for been annoying in chat, to stop them looking at your profile and probably the most used, messaging you (especially if its abusive) when unwanted.
If the same users post topics in the forums then they arnt bothering you in any way are they, they are merly posting their opinion and thoughts on a very open and general forum.
Just all seems a wee bit too much to have so many blocks on people, we are all adults, even if they want to play silly beggers with messages etc then rise above it.
Also, on occasion (with the best will and efforts of the mods on the forum who do a brill job) a post gets through that is obviously aimed at a particular individual, if that user was on block then you wouldnt see it and be able to report it to the mods.

.
Should be easily doable, instead of blanking the first letter, blank the whole username instead in the code.
Just need to find the line with that code, and there may be thousands of lines for a forums like this!!!
Hopefully it is a piece of cake for the techies like sj! |
