We've gone live with v2 of this on www site only (not on mobile) while we get more feedback.
You can check it out using the "try the new look mailbox" link at the top of your inbox.
Thanks for all the super useful feedback on the last thread. We got quite a bit wrong 
Just to re-iterate our objectives here. Particularly for users who get lots and lots of messages (i.e. females) we want to make the mailbox easier to manage and keep track of conversations.
We want to make it more obvious which messages are from someone you've messaged before.
We want to make it more obvious when scanning the mailbox which messages you've replied/not replied to.
We want to make it obvious which messages are from friends.
The change this time round are:
* Replied messages show a replied icon to the left hand side of the message subject. We hope this makes it easy to scan the messages. No more fading of the text/icons.
* New unread messages show an icon at the far right hand side of the message area, with "conversation icon" if you've chatted with them before, smiley face friend icon if they're a friend. Once you've read the message these icons go.
Feedback welcome. We'll iterate through this process until we're happy what we're replacing is an improvement for most people

So no new colours then? Just small icons?
Well I will see what the others say, I liked different colours for friends but I guess it depends on the masses.

Going to try on the desktop site now, but I liked the colour coded ones for mobile site, maybe not the shades of yellow. It would be easier to see colours rather than icons on the mobile site IMO. |

Think the colour scheme could be changed if possible if you were going to do it like v1. and the icons are ok. But I liked v1 over this one. Sorry admin x |

I liked the fact that you have fixed the re-viewing of an attached picture as I can go back to a read message, click on their attachment and hey presto, big again  |

The link is just there so you can view the new mailbox and provide feedback. When it's ready it will replace the existing mailbox

Different subject:
It would be great to able to see a link to the chat history of each profile you've messaged before.
I mainly use my phone & there are limited previous or saved message lists so often can't get to where someone has sent their pics. Can be embarrassing having to ask again as if you can't remember them.
Would make it so much easier to have your history of interaction with that profile to hand instead if searching backwards often to no avail!
Just a thought.
Great site otherwise.

Has admin thought about putting a number in brackets next to verified showing how many different people had verified this profile ? As some peeps hide verifications - it only shows "verified" profile -
This means that some "couples" aka single guys will verify a profile of theirs from another profile , the. hide the verifications - making themselves look genuine - when they are not

Just a thought but by defining all these different aspects will it not hinder people meeting new people as they are concentrating on the ones they have allready messaged? |

I like it too and good idea about the emoticons in messages To be honest I didn't like the faded look on replied messages before. Good work Admin |

It just means I do not have to sift through looking so hard for messages from real life friends on, and then I can see who has replied to me. Before dealing with the new ones. I don't think it will 'hinder' me meeting new people. It will just make my inbox a friendlier place, meaning I go in there more often |

Ohhh yes that is better . I wasnt keen on the faded out ones at all.
I would really like saved message boxes so you can save all messages from one person into it if necessary.
Also a numbered page option at the bottom as at moment we have to delete some messages to get to the ones further down the page. well done tho great improvement |

I'd like to 'try the new mailbox' and get used to it, but don't want to click on the option every time I go to my mailbox, is there a way to turn the new mailbox on and off and have the site remember which one you choose? |

You want a "like" button on an inbox message - a message which only two profiles can see anyway?? What do you want this FOR? Do you want the site to send a message back for you, saying "the reciepient liked your message"? If you like the message, why not just reply to it? |

Not much different from the old one, Guess the friends icon may be useful for some people, For me though not so much as i know who my friends are.
Seems ok though what do others think i wonder....

would be useful to see online status of the person you've sent a message to or received when you're looking at your list of messages. Saves you clicking on their profile to see if they're online

If you read the OP it says they are testing it on normal site first then when it's sorted will go onto mobile site as well. |

Can you guys code in alt descriptions for icons so that us screen reader users know what the graphics actually are? It isn't hard to do and it would show some really good foresight to accessibility xx |

May just be me, but as a site supporter I do get full conversations, this evening though the convo's seem to have disappeared?
Older convo's are still there just not some of the most recent ones? |
