Am I right in thinking if you see DELETED, the person has either deleted without reading or marked unread then deleted..
I was experimenting with a friend but our messages kept clashing 🙃
Deleted is just that,deleted and gone,whether it was read by them before hand or not.
I tend to read messages and if i want to reply later mark it as unread but if I delete it it's gone,although you can access message history with them,in top left corner of their profile.
