ID verification.
Jump to: Newest in thread
We already pay for site membership to receive extra benefits. How about paying for a service that verifies your identity?
As previously mentioned, this is similar to how you verify your identity on a banking app. Obviously, this would be private and held on Fab's system.
That way, you know that the person is who they claim to be.
What do we think? |

I wouldn’t be happy leaving any other personal details. I’ve already had my personal information hacked twice so would be wary how safe the systems would be |

Personally I like the idea. Happens in clubs (most) and I like the added level of security that means anyone abusive can be removed and not come back.
But I know others aren't keen.
To me it's more about knowing who's behind a profile if something goes seriously wrong, rather than a means to prove someone is real. That to me can be done in other ways easily enough.
Would possibly stop some of the negative behaviour seen if people knew they wouldn't be able to rejoin if banned. 🤷♂️ |

Not a chance in hell. I don't give people here my phone number or my real name so I'm not going to provide personal details just to be here.
I've never had an issue with people not being who they claim to be because I do my own due diligence so this wouldn't be an option I would require. |

Erm no. If someone has a problem with me not believing I’m who I claim to be, it’s on them. If I haven’t done my common sense thing and been catfished or whatever, it’s on me. I don’t even share my real name with anyone, let alone my ID. |

I find due diligence usually complements common sense on here for me.
I have no issues with multifactor authentication, one way or the other. I can live without it because Fab is my demilitarised zone and I'm happy to be cracked on here rather than real life. |

Fab storing identity information would immediately make it a target for hackers to both steal identities and target individuals for bl*ckmail.
Securing that kind of data is enormously expensive and hard to do right. Just look at Ashley Madison. |

I think someone must be trying to close Fab down. This post about ID verification and one earlier about 'putting Fab behind a paywall' (a subscription).
I suspect like others, I use this site for the anonymity it offers. My photo verification is naked full body without face and could have been anyone, so carries no credence whatsoever.
I can choose who I message, what pictures I post etc. I have total control. Soon as you start adding the 'barriers' of ID verification and subscription it becomes a whole different ball game. Now, I don't have anywhere near the control or anonymity I had previously. Plus I am going to look at 'what I am getting out of Fab'? As an average single guy, on and off here for several years, with zero meets, not a lot. Therefore, it wouldn't offer value for money.
Soon as I have to pay to verify my identity or subscribe, I'm out of here and I expect a lot of single males would be also.
I'm on here for a bit of a punt, I don't take it seriously and have no expectations of a meet whatsoever.

Up your site filters, that's really all it takes. |

That question was asked on your previous thread and replied to.
What is your particular problem with Fab, you have not actually said. Are you not getting enough replies/meets and blaming it on abuse you perceive others to be recieving?
Having to show ID would not stop all the abuse, if people are that way inclined they will still do it.
It would stop people pretending to be different sexes/ages but that's about it
For any serious matters, the police can trace back to an IP address and can retrieve all deleted data from phones ect.
Maybe just use filters and be more diligent who you converse with...

Other adult sites use this system effectively.
But I can’t see the fab owners paying for the required security. |

That being said I know of at least 2 sites that do it very effectively, one being the biggest images/video sharing platform for adult content creators. |

You currently, as some of us do, pay a fiver. It is up to debate whether that is worth it but the site can still be used without it.
Who do you suggest verifies all the ID and then runs a facial recognition database that would pick up if anyone has been abusive or is on a supposed naughty list and cannot rejoin
I assume the site admin here who already do verifications is unpaid
Who do you suggest checks this information? And are you happy with potentially other swingers having access to your name and home address etc
Will it cut back people who are abusive?
Maybe
Will it mean less people join?
Maybe
I am happy with the way the site runs. Put the correct filters in place and report those that are abusive

You can’t prevent timewasters or fantasists but you can disincentivise the keyboard wankers that currently create trash profiles with throwaway email accounts for free.
I’m still convinced that the Fab experience would be improved by stopping the current unrestrained free access. A paywall set at the Silver subscription would make the Fab world a better place. |

Playing devil's advocate....
Do you not think women might view the knowledge that someone had provided ID as a useful safety measure? Should anything go amiss there'd be a means of locating and identifying someone?
The fact that people can be 100% anonymous, claim to be someone they're not, and create an online persona that could be a million miles from reality is a double edged sword.
Just look at all the fake profiles on Facey and other social media spreading false news, pretending to be other people and causing abuse and discontent.
Maybe if people knew that others were genuine people they'd be more willing to engage and meet with them?
Just a thought. 🤷♂️

If there are sites that already do this why are so many people still here? I look at this from the pint of view of choice. I suspect people would expect to pay a similar price with the added security feature and I doubt that's possible.

Nope. Due diligence and common sense trumps a stored ID every time! |
