What does it actually take to get someone banned?

Received a message yesterday from a man who was abusive when I was here on a previous profile (if you’re enough of a dick I will always remember the name and photo!). He obviously didn’t twig so I kept him going purely to waste his time a bit, he was begging me to send a face pic which I refused and he then sent me one. Well, a quick reverse image search revealed it to be someone else’s photo he had sent to try to persuade me to send one.

I reported him AGAIN (and added in my feedback that this was the same person who previously sent me a torrent of abuse when I said I wasn’t interested). Just had it confirmed by a friend he is still here.

I’d love to know what criteria is actually required to get people banned? It seems crazy to me that this person wasn’t removed in the first instance and is now STILL free to abuse and catfish other women in my area as much as he pleases (with his “I’m not like the other guys” declaration on his profile, of course).

Similarly I reported someone else a few days ago who, when ignored, said they only messaged me because I was fat and therefore probably desperate, accused me of bareback es**rting and then made nasty comments about the likelihood I had a bad childhood!? You guessed it - still on the site.

In my opinion admin are way too lenient on people like this and the problem is definitely getting worse - could just be in my area, who knows, but I’ve been on Fab for give or take 5 years so that’s my personal experience. They are ruining the site for others and by allowing them to stay it just encourages them.

YES, I know they could set up a new profile.

YES, I do just ignore and block.

YES, it’s not the majority who are like this.

The abuse doesn’t bother me, but if I were a newbie to the scene and nervous about joining only to receive that? I would leave. If we want to encourage more women to join &/or stay admin needs to be doing more and coming down harder on these scumbags.

If you’re going to comment to tell me to just not let it bother me then please don’t bother yourself as you’re wilfully missing the point

Not always the case, I think some just get off knowing the vile filth they send has been read by an unsuspecting woman. I've had first contact messages that quite frankly would turn even the strongest stomach. I just block as no point reporting.

Yes I agree, I’ve had this happen on plenty of occasions. Open a message that’s just a diatribe of pure hate from nowhere and the guy has already blocked you before you could even respond (not that I would).

I’m not sure there’s any point in reporting going forward as it seems to do very little. Which is sad because I genuinely think it goes a way to explaining partly the lack of women joining or being retained on here.

I imagine because paying men outweigh women it probably ends up more profitable to keep them so sorry OP x

That’s a good point, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a huge factor in it. Shame for those of us long-standing members who are what the site is actually about.

Thank you

If it EVER happens I'll let you know!

Earlier I reported someone for stealing pics from a verified profile, all that's happened is I've been blocked from seeing their profile, as per always. Thankfully no abuse, this time...

Sending a hug and best wishes to you

Omg you’ve just reminded me - I reported someone else a few days ago as they had uploaded a photo that was clearly taken from someone else’s profile (idiot hadn’t even cropped the FabSwingers watermark at the bottom out). Picture disappeared and he then just re uploaded it cropped this time it’s literally a photo of two other people having sex who have no idea he’s pretending it’s him!

Thanks for the lovely comment

O o O oo

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

Admin

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

--

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******
