" The emoji are not actually "emoji" the site code uses a text/string filter called regex (regular expression) to replace the shortcode text with an actual html img link to the smiley file. The site just needs to update the storage database to be fully Unicode (utf8mb4 or equivalent) then all standard emoji should display everywhere without changing anything else. There are lots of good videos on YouTube about how regex works and emoji support in databases if you want a better idea. | |||
